Does distant generate save the terrain or just the lod files?

Hey, I read somewhere that using Distant Generation wont actually save the world and just the lods, but I keep seeing people say that there is no need to use a pregen mod and to just use the Distant Generator. If I want some of the world to already be generator for a server do I use a pregen mod or will Distant Generation do all the work?
Solution:
Distant Generation won't save chunks, it will only save the LODs. Most people don't need the chunks, so its often recommended to not use pregen mods, as they can cause issues. If you need the chunks, just use a pregen mod and set Distant Generation to Pre Existing Chunks only...

Chunky is known to cause LODs to turn into swiss cheese and bloat up world size, as can be seen in the attached screenshot. We recommend you enable "Distant Generation" in Distant Horizons' settings and wait. If you actually want to pre-generate vanilla chunks along with LOD data, disable Distant Horizons, wait for chunky to finish, then re-enable Distant Horizons.
