Tucking in shirt always looks slightly strange
I've recently been trying to tuck in more casual shirts, and I can't tell if it ends up looking strange because of the way my pants are fitting, or if I need much more loosely fitting shirts to drape over a bit

i like this kind of combo, and you seem to be getting the idea of how to improve. generally a drapier or looser fitting shirt tucked into pants with a wider fit and higher rise works best for the look, in my opinion.
if you want some inspiration for this kind of style there are a lot of MFA regs who do this combo really well. one of my favorite recent-ish fits in this combo is from @stmn (sorry if the ping isn't appreciated). you could also probably find a ton of really good inspo from Scott Fraser Collection
in your photo, i'd say the problem is mostly the pants, which seem to have a lower/mid rise. the fit is okay but not ideal. also, i recommend wearing a belt to complete the look. shoes can also make the fit more cohesive.
In that case would you recommend more of a high raise pair?
for sure
Usually I just wear plain white shoes w/ jeans and a plain tee and a graphic tee for casual stuff
Unfortunately my pants size is annoying so I've just had the same pairs for years, I'll look up some info on finding pants that might suit my figure better after I get out of work today
Will take a look at this too, I've mostly just been browsing pinterest until now for inspo

I posted almost this same question to MFAD a few months back, and got the same response. I’ve bought a few pairs of higher rise pants and imo it looks better but also FEELS so much more comfortable. Definitely go try some on! Hope you like it
I will echo high rise pants and will add that a belt also helps a lot
I currently only have belts that are similar to this
Was considering getting a nicer one to help out as well
Whichever one goes better with your shoes will help
Hmm ok, I'll take a look at some stuff online for this as well
