DH not working anymore with fabric better mc 1.20.1 pack
had DH working with better MC for a few weeks, had to remove DH briefly to solve another compatibility issue and now after putting it back, fabric loader is giving me this error:

Better MC includes an outdated version of Iris, which the latest version of Distant Horizons available to download is not compatible with.
:harold:
do you happen to know what version of DH is compatible with the outdated version of iris? i tried several from the main DH download page on modrynth that looked like they should work but none did :(
What version of iris is in the modpack?
these are the two inside the pack currently
you shouldn't have 2 so get rid of iris-mc1.20.1-1.6.11.jar
yes sir
new error

Did you get rid of the previous versions of sodium and indium
Rip
looks like the entire pack was built of old sodium
yea
lol
yeah, it's the weirdest thing because i HAD DH working perfectly fine like a week ago
You change one mod another pops up
hmm
but tha latest version of indium is actually 1.0.29
on this exact version of the game and the pack
use sodium 0.5.8 and indium 1.0.29
Just go on an upgrade every mod in your list 🙂
that will take ages
yknow theres a busy street near me i could go play in instead ðŸ˜
well thats a shure solution too
✨ minecraft modding ✨
i'll try this
🙂
send what error u got next time
be back in a minute sorrry

that's with indium 1.0.29, and sodium 0.5.3
i'm gonna see if maybe there is a reason for the pack having old versions of indium and sodium and that's what's causing the crash
okay so turns out the pack is reliant on "sodium-fabric-mc1.20.1-0.5.3" but is not reliant on "sodium-fabric-0.5.8+mc1.20.1"
both are in the mods folder same as how iris had two versions present
You need sodium for 1.20.1 0.5.8 and indium for 1.20.1 1.0.29

Oh okay
I would be much much easier for you to use custom MC launcher, e.g. Modrinth App
It allows you to update all mods with a push of a button, takes care of library mods, and automaticly installs correct MC version mods

Try those version of:
- Iris: https://modrinth.com/mod/iris/version/1.7.2+1.20.1
- Sodium: https://modrinth.com/mod/sodium/version/mc1.20.1-0.5.11
- Indium: https://modrinth.com/mod/indium/version/1.0.34+mc1.20.1
And remove all other versions
no work :(
i'm gonna try and migrate my world to V25 of better mc and see if DH works there
okay switching to better mc v25 worked, however now with DH enabled i got some weird pillars shooting up from the LOD and some more general chunk errors. i didn't see anything on the FAQ so any ideas @Miki_P98 ?
i'll get a screenshot in a sec my MC keeps crashing
issue persists with shaders
hmm
Your mod list / logs
not home atm unfortunately but it’s better MC 1.20.1 v25
no changes other than the most recent version of DH available for 1.20.1
the issue above is weirdly inconsistent, sometimes when i load the game certain chunks are fine and new ones are wonky
ok
BMC 4 ?
sorry my bad BMC2
Ok
fabric ?
yes!
you need to remove starlight mod from your folder "-"
It is there in BMC 2
is that to resolve the chunk errors in v25 or the crashing errors in v24?
aka last nights issue or tonight’s issue
chunk errir
this
interesting okay i’ll give that a shot when i get home tonight!
there are 3 chunk mods too remove them also
You don't need starlight in later versions of minecraft as it practically doesn't do anything since the lighting engine is already pretty good also try regenerating your lods by deleting your distanthorizons.sqlite file in the server/world folder
/lodstore
Single Player:
- Overworld:
.minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- Nether: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIM-1/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- End: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIM1/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- Custom Dimensions: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIMENSION_FOLDER/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
Multiplayer:
- .minecraft/Distant_Horizons_server_data/SERVER_NAME/
told him alredy 🙂
