Frenchman st any night for great great music, literally every venue on the street will have amazing musicians on a weekend night. Adolfo's for some great creole-italian food and the apple barrel bar downstairs are some of my fav places
Verdi Marte for 24hr poboys and their au gratin is delicious
Royal house for oysters and fried alligator
I literally have so much fun there just wandering around the french quarter people watching and listening to music
ACME is my pick for grilled oysters. Pro-move is to pop into the hotel right next door and get the blended bourbon milkshake/cocktail that they sell. Just make sure you finish it before you go in.
I also prefer Frenchman st over bourbon and most of the rest of the french quarter. Great live music. There's a fun tiki bar down there called tiki tok that's really good too
never actually stopped on bourbon st, just crossed it. I do remember walking back to my hotel at 5 one morning and seeing the powerwashers
I fucking love new orleans, favorite city to visit
This guys often on royal st and one of my fav soul cover singers, he fucking kills it https://www.instagram.com/harrisonvibes/

One of my favorite vintage shops is based in New Orleans! Worth a stop
Port of Call - one of my favorite burgers in the world. Get the baked potato too.
Mr. B's - of all the chef brothers spots, which are $$$, this one's a bit cheaper and I liked the vibe a lot.
La Fitte's - slightly touristy but the purple drink is hella good and will get you lit
Agree 1000% Frenchman St over any other late night hang outs.
Morning Call - better beignets than Cafe Du Monde
Mother's - long line but extremely good drippings po boy
Domalise's - oyster Po boy is solid
Bread pudding basically everywhere is a good call, but especially Mr B''s / Brennan's
Ignore all the official hurricane places - just about any iced slurpee alcohol spot is just as good, and you can drink in public which is awesome
The blacksmith on bourbon has a pretty good slushy imo
I did like the og hurricane from that irish bar i dint recall the name tho
They claim to have invented it
Second frenchman street. Thats where you want to spend your drinking and bar hopping time. Go to bourbon just to see it but dont spend a lot of time there
Frenchman has more and better live music and a more locals vibe
That's La Fitte's! Yea it's the exception
Yea the piano bar is a fun vibe but god it's expensive
If you want to avoid the line at mothers, you can call in for take-out, walk right by all the shocked texans in line and take your sandwich (or crawfish ettoufe) to the promenade
I will also say, waiting in line for food in Nola is stupid, I guarantee you there is somewhere nearby with no line that is equally good
some places just get a lot of hype but I don't think it's the sort of food that has to be cooked just right by just the right person to be delicious
Check out the Street Food USA episode of new orleans on netflix for some inspo too
Pro tip for cafe du monde but this may be out dated i havnt been in years. The cafe will always have a line outside for seating but according to the waiters this is not a system enforced by the cafe, the people just do it. So technically it ls totally fine to walk into the seating area look for a table thats finishing up and just take it
Appreciate the tips everyone! Will be here for a week, plan to give as many of these a shot as I can (fit in my) stomach!
Definitely a dick move that
I only ever saw lines for the order window, but tbf I only ever waited in line once and that was because drunk me wanted a 3:00 am beignet. I never actually saw a line for seating
Yah i think it was just when we were there. The waitress we talked to was like there is no line policy they just do that
Yeah I was just there over the weekend and didn’t see a line.
