Not looking like images
Me and my friend made a modpack of about 100 mods and I went through and none of them looked like they would interfere with DH besides maybe oculus, but whenever I try and use curseforge to add it (1.19.2) the mod doesn’t look anything like the pictures and only loads like a handful more chunks, I’ve tried messing around with settings and even tried it in a world without any of the excess mods and yes I’ve turned up my ram but it still seems to not be doing what it looks like in the images I see it just limitless generation, I also noticed everytime the mod is turned on I drop to like 5 fps this is with a 3060 and Intel I9 CPU 10900F and I have over 80GB of ram. So im pretty sure it’s not a hardware issue and my friend with an Alienware(idk specs) is having the same issue I could be illiterate and didn’t do everything I had too or something but I doubt it. I’m not sure which DH it is as I just downloaded it from curseforge and cannot check right now currently.

Firstly make sure you have the latest distant horizons for your version (1.19.2 right?) and could you give screenshots not necessary but could be helpful lastly could you try the second part of the following
If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)Yes I’ll try it
If it doesn’t work I’ll get screenshots
Well I did all of that and installed the latest version but it crashed
But I had 2.1.2 installed
This is about as far as it goes
Updated but it’s taking an extremely long time is that just normal?
and it says it’s loaded some chunks but it hasn’t
After tweaking a lot it seems to be working a lot better actually idrk what I did tho
well basically if there are red and blue boxes it means that there are lods being queued for creation/ being created so it is working but you may need to tweak the amount of lod building threads to use so your lods generate faster but that also will take up more cpu usage
I got it working on the unmodded version but with my modpack it still crashes after a little bit of loading chunks
I can give a mod list if needed
This is resolved I figured everything out
Eureka was crashing my game
FYI: oculus won't work with DH on 1.19.2

so is there a alternaitve that does work for forge?
No, not on 1.19.2
You need 1.20.1 and up
then how did this person do this in 1.19.2\
are you sure that is 1.19.2
yeah, they are playing on a modpack that is only 1.19.2
then i dont know
If you can, i suggest you ask them
ive not heard of a way to get it working
well ive asked multiple times over the past few days
no response?
yeah, radio silence
that sucks
so i was able to replicate what they did, and i think they werent actually using dh and used farsight, it suprisingly isnt causing me that much lag to load 200 chunks, but i think it uses some optimized way to load chunks simular to dh but it actually has the actual chunks, so i guess if you want shaders and you have a good enough pc on 1.19.2 farsight with dh works as a pretty good workaround
so when you wanna use shaders, turn on farsight, when you want the vanilla look, turn down render distance and use dh
Farsight does not load chunks as far as I know, it just does not unload them
It works by having the client keep the chunks, even when the server unloads them.
i know, because i actually have to manually load them still
Optifine doesn't work with dh right?
Just check the mod pack and see what version of dh and what version of iris they are using
dh wasnt included by default, and im using forge so no iris
oh mb
not if you use shaders
okay
