Can I activate shaders while Distant Horizons is rendering chunks?
I have BSL shaders v8.2.08, and I wanted to know if turning the shaders on will cause problems when rendering new areas.
Should I wait until it renders everything or something? Loading into an existing world with shaders already enabled from earlier gave me lots of issues

It should be fine, if you ever get chunks refusing to load you can, for example, change the DH distance from 128 to 127 and back to 128 to fix it.
yeah not sure what kinds of issues you experienced when doing that before, there should be no problem with doing that
hmmm my problem was a bit weirder when I loaded into a world with shaders enabled
there was a random section rendered that wasn't connected to the chunk I was in, and a rotated "line" of a rendered area floating on the background
I suspect it was because I had World Curvature enabled in BSL
also my laptop started making BRRRRRRRR noises when I looked at the visual glitches
at that point I ran to the task manager to close the proccess
cuz I was scared lol
My laptop has an i5 10th gen
the graphics card is equivalent to a gt1050 mobile (Geforce MX250)
and I have 8gb ram/512gb ssd
@Rcs_Online
i forgot to turn ping reply on lol
Yeah I was actually sort of thinking it was a hardware limitation
All of that likely just happened because your cpu/gpu got overloaded
I was with F3 enabled
the CPU seemed fine
the GPU did reach 100% yeah, but I thought DH was CPU heavy only 😔
DH uses cpu yeah
maybe messing with the shaders and dh settings could give me some playable results?
Yeah try some less intensive stuff
i managed to get something playable but it looks kinda weird, trying to get a video, just a sec
if OBS worked..
@Rcs_Online
I managed to fix all of the graphical issues I mentioned on the beggining but now this is what I'm getting
Aye you're sure that shader version is compatible with DH?
Ummm, I saw the shader compatibility list but I'm not sure it provided the actual version that's supported
I'm gonna try downloading it to check the version
Yaya
the version from the list is 8.2.09
and mine is 8.2.08
does that make that big of a difference? @Rcs_Online
Idk
Just get most recent
You can keep the .txt setting file when you switch
thanks :)
this is how the graphic issues looked before btw
I'm still getting some smaller issues after updating shaders and changing settings to low
but they're still pretty annoying
2 solutions for that:
1. Change windowing mode from fullscreen to windowed or vice versa.
2. Restart the game.
Option 2 is preferred as option 1 is unlikely to have a persistent fix.
none of that worked but I downloaded a bunch of performance mods and switched to fabric
and it's not perfect im getting playable fps
You need oculus 1.7+ for shader support
Wait, they're on Forge?
:harold:
They have both NeoForge and Forge tags so IDK
Maybe I should be more vigilant on those details...
:painschamp:
fabric now
I was on NeoForge
