I've went through most FAQ regarding the issue I'm receiving: rendering.. shared context buffer.
I'm on 1.20.1

can you share logs?
/logsstored
You should send your
latest.log
file to provide additional useful information.
Logs are located in the .minecraft/logs
directory.
On Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs
On Linux: ~/.minecraft/logs
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/logs
Please upload the file to mclo.gs instead of sending the raw file. This makes reading the contents of the file a lot easier and improves the chances of you getting the help needed.
After uploading the file, click on Save
and send the link.can you try deleting the config file at .minecraft/config/distanthorizons.toml?
this will reset your DH settings to default
Alrighties!
I deleted the config file
Sorry I'm not so good with logs & minecraft technicalities yet
Tried going through the logs but can't figure out what's wrong
I don't see anything weird in the logs
It's still crashing?
Maybe try with just DH
It could be a compatibility issue
It's not crashing no, I just can't see anything distant
I have my render distance set to 32
And DH to 512
Do you have a compatible shader? And try setting your render distance to 2 to spot DH terrain easier
I'm using Bliss (the new one that's compatible supposedly)
That's indeed the correct one
But don't send zip files please
They could contain viruses
Can you share a screenshot of your game with 2 render distance and F3 open?
Alrightnmy bad
I’ll open f3 now
It's working, but this is a common issue with bliss

Oh okay, so I should try something else then?
You could try a different shader yea
No other shader should have this issue
Just make sure you get a compatible one
Here is a list of compatible shaders https://gist.github.com/Steveplays28/52db568f297ded527da56dbe6deeec0e

I tried photon and it's just not showing the extra distance :/
Ill try something else
Yeah just tried BSL too, it just shows the standard render distance and from there on it's simply cut
Can you send a screenshot with one of those two shaders?
Showing the cut
I gotta go now, I'll be able to help later if no-one else has
It's not the best quality screenshot, but I think I see LODs
Which would mean it's working
Tip: exit fullscreen and press shift + windows + s to take a screenshot
Chunk loading takes a really long time
/slowgen
If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)That might be useful
Alright I’ll take a look into that but I have had it at Aggressive for a while
Should I keep my render distance set to 2?
Is it irrelevant?
No, I suggested you set your render distance to 2 so the LODs are better visible

Could these potentially impact DH
Does DH have to be server side as well?
Probably not, especially as it seemed to be working for you
It doesn't have to, but distant generation won't work. For that you'll need the serverside version, which can be found in the pinned message in #Server-side support . Do note that this version is still very experimental
I just ran in one path to let the game render
And then start walking backwards again; the game removes the rendered parts as if I don't have DH
Can you share another screenshot, but this time an actual screenshot instead of a photo of your screen?
Also with daylight please
Sure, I also tried switching to Bliss btw and I saw a bit of DH but now it's back to the same glitchy look
Oh
It doesn't let screenshot outside of the menu x.x
Lemme check settings
Is this because distant generation isn't working?
It looks to indeed be working correctly
