distant generation is causing a boatload of "feature placement" errors
usually that means c2me or a worldgen mod is bugging out
how would a world gen mod effect an LOD mod?
because DH has its own distant generator
which calls minecraft's worldgen

so it can't distant render with installed worldgen mods?
it has to fallback on vanilla minecraft?
distant generation always tries to use regular worldgen (that includes worldgen mods)
so it should just work but sometimes it doesn't
so something like lithostitched and terralith should work yes?

this is probably caused by starlight
you shouldnt use starlight anyway

i've had no issues with it before

yea DH messed something up in 2.1.2
you can revert to 2.1.0 and the issue should go away
nah it probably wont get fixed so i might as well remove it

because in 1.20 mojang rewrote the lighting engine to be just as fast as starlights

yea it wont go away now. in 2.1.2 DH cant properly read starlights lighting format. and that format wont go away by deleting starlight. if only LODs are affected, you could try deleting your LODs though
you can do that by deleting the sqlite files

I remember Suplementaries causing inverted LOD lighting
nah i don't have that
my modlist is yes
Now I remembered that Bliss shader also sometimes inverted colors, but that should not be related
And when i get close to the chunks
they begin to get their act together

When you will be composing a modpack for the nex version of MC, maybe soto couple times in the process to see what mod can be causing this
