Mod Issue? gaps keep manifesting despite free memory.
Distant Horizons 2.1.2-a
I upgraded from 16GB to 20GB DDR4 3200mhz ram and the mod only used around 8GB before gaps persisted, I had 8GB more to spare.

this can happen when you move a lot and your cpu cant keep up with making the LODs
/swiss
Chunky is known to cause LODs to turn into swiss cheese and bloat up world size, as can be seen in the attached screenshot.
We recommend you enable "Distant Generation" in Distant Horizons' settings and wait.
If you actually want to pre-generate vanilla chunks along with LOD data, disable Distant Horizons, wait for chunky to finish, then re-enable Distant Horizons.
what did Switzerland do to be a command in the server, they did nuthing wrongπππππ /j
they were not using chunky were they?
oh

If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)do you need any more help @yahudah? otherwise I will close the post
I just have to leave the world for a bit and rejoin, managed to capture a 6000 x 3000 block region on the extreme quality preset.
My gpu {apu} was pinned at 99-100% and I ran at 4 fps.
What RAM configuration do you run?
8 4 8 {X} ?
6 4 6 4 ?
1x4gb, 1x16gb, both DDR4 3200mhz by Samsung
bizarre, but I can think of how it happened
Have a nice day
Do you mean what slots they are in? I only have 2 on this machine.
No I mean, a fact that you have 1x4 + 1x16 stick instead of 2x8 or 2x16 or 2x12
I would consider it rare, though not that rare
My living situation has been relatively chaotic and I saw an opportunity for an upgrade after opening 2 broken laptops.
