Faces don't erase

Not sure if this is a bug or not but when you erase a selected face, it collapses vertices instead of removing just the face.

I think this is intentional, but i might be wrong

Just wonder why it works that way if you have the option to select verts edges or faces. If you delete vertices you’d get the same result
