Distant horizons Memory issue on Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon
I've been running minecraft on Mint and I made a new modpack with a new save that I play on. After some time I notice performance drops while using DH, looking at my available RAM(capped on 10 GB for minecraft) I noticed that it's in full usage and that it's overloading. Is this a memory leak? Is distant horizons on low quality requiring more than 4GBs of RAM to work?

Also I installed a mod called Twilight forest and am wondering if there's a memory leak due to incompatibility between TwiForest and DH?
DH quality setting can change the VRAM usage but it does not change the RAM usage much
so unless the VRAM is spilling into the RAM it is not the problem
CPU load
and Distant generation
uses a lot of RAM though
try decreasing CPU load (wait up to couple minutes for the preset to fully change in the background)
If that won't help, disable the distant generationWill that make it load slower or does it use the graphics card more?
Nevermind it seems I can't read hover tips
I'll be running the game for a few hours to see if the issue is gone, if it isn't it could be other mods I'm not sure. I'll notify
Solution
Install mod
Ferritecore
it decreases RAM usage a lotModernFix
and Krypton
olso helps, bu only a small bit
I know that they are for fabric, but they shpuld have some forge equivalentsAlright I'll try that
Since minecraft keeps hogging every byte of ram it can
The game is running great so far so thanks for the suggestions :)
No problem 🙂
