How to make LOD's look good on low render distance
LODs at 6 render distance are really pixelated, can you incerase the quality of lods up to like 12 chunks so they look almost like vanilla?

No that's not the point of the mod, raise your render distance to 12 and that should do the trick
and set the quality preset to extreme
ok, ty
is it gonna be a big performance hit?
on 12 render distance and 32 lod distance?
Nah
the extreme setting
ok,ty
the extreme setting has negligible performance costs
btw on server it only generates server propieties "viev_distance:X" amount of chunks or does it generate it based on the server seed or something?
On servers it will only load LODs on chunks you've loaded yourself
Extreme is indistinguishable from very high and sometimes from high and the performance impact is give at higher render distances
You should use higher preset only when you zoom in a LOT
You can try to tune the Noise texture,

Setting vertical quality higher is Ok if you need to, but horizontal quality/LOD dropoff usually only decreases performance
I rarely zoom in it just makes things look smoother at the divide between normal and LOD chunks
could you please give me specfic settings and their amount you would recommend me? so far i changed lod STEP 8, STR 16 whats that bout verticall quality?
I play with tuned fog (see: #Make the fog cover first few visible DH chunk rows... bug will be fixed in 2.1.3)
Noise texture: step 8 str 16 as you currently have
Quality preset: medium with vertical quality set to high for best performance with good visual quality
You can tune the quality yourself, quality presets above medium change only lod dropof distance/horizontal quality and vertical quality
Vertical quality improved structures and reduces artifacts while lod dropoff increases the size of the LOD zones so the same quality will display further out
Tune the fog, noise texture and increase only vertical quality instead of the whole preset, it should give you some fps back
Maybe you will be able to increase your RD to 512? xD
Ok
so wait, turn UP vertical quality and dump all other quality?
Set the preset to high and vertical quality to extreame and go from there
Ok
Noise texture and fog are separate toggles
does it increase loading speed at all or does it just increase FPS?
FPS isn't a big deal until my meager VRAM runs out
FPS
I see
