Game is crashing only when I enable DH
Although I'm running a combination of mods as well as shaders, I found the issue doesn't occur when using all of them without DH and it also does occur when I'm only using DH and the mods it depends on. Also, the game doesn't crash if I launch the world with enable rendering set to false, however once it is set to true the world immediately freezes and crashes. What can I do to fix this?

do a binary split on the mods
chances are one of them is freaking out when the Distant Horizons renderer is on
what do you mean by a binary split?
take the mods, split them in half, run one half of the mods and then the other and see which batch crashes
then take the crashing batch, split it again
and do it until you isolate the problem
I removed all mods from the folder except fabric api and indium and it still happened

if it helps I had a previous world on 1.20.4 with a similar list of mods and I never had this issue
only now that I've updated to 1.21 and updated the DH version has this become a problem

Try a binary search and figure out which mod is causing it.
So disable half of the mods, see if issue is still there, if yes disable half again etc etc until you find the mod that's causing the issue.

surely it's not because of the amount of RAM I've allocated to the game or anything right? I gave the installation 8 out of my 16gb so I assume this wouldnt be the issue

i took literally every mod off except DH and now it isn't crashing anymore

when the shaders are turned on the game crashes
