Weird lighting blocks
I don't know if these are just bugs because they are far away, or if it is because I added DH to this world after playing on it for a while already.

Also, in the daytime there seems to be weird full black shadows over portions of terrain, but I again don't know if that's due to adding DH after world gen
looks like a shader issue, do you have any idea what blocks those are that light up?
pic?
I will go to the blocks and get you a pic. One moment
The purple lights are small amethyst crystals from the amethyst forest type(second to last pic) biome, and the orange one was from a block from one of my mods called a char log(first pic)
And the last pic is the weird morning light
There was also a neon yellow light that I flew over to and there was nothing there. It just disappeared
i dont think the glowing blocks are a bug, those blocks are probably supposed to look like that.
for the black chunks, are you using starlight?
Yes
what MC version are you playing on?
1.20.1
fabric
delete starlight and regenerate your LODs. starlight has no use on 1.20.1 anyway
you can regenerate your LODs by deleting the sqlite files
/lodstored
Single Player:
- Overworld:
.minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- Nether: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIM-1/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- End: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIM1/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- Custom Dimensions: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIMENSION_FOLDER/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
Multiplayer:
- .minecraft/Distant_Horizons_server_data/SERVER_NAME/
Ok, but why do the small amethyst crystals appear as full neon colored blocks
because DH is not capable of rendering anything smaller than a 1x1 meter cube
if you dont like that, you can tell DH to ignore non-full blocks in DH's settings
Oh, ok
And what about the char log? It's sorta like a magma block, so it just shows neon orange?
either it is meant to glow/give light, or the mod that adds that block messed up somewhere
Ok, I deleted the 3 sqlite files and am re-loading world. Will see how it goes
I've been loading chunks on high load this whole time but haven't really moved much. Looks like this now
Hard cut offs in the ocean, and weird lighting behind me
you did delete starlight?
Yes
thats weird
perhaps you have another mod messing with the lighting
can you send logs?
/logsstored
You should send your
latest.log
file to provide additional useful information.
Logs are located in the .minecraft/logs
directory.
On Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs
On Linux: ~/.minecraft/logs
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/logs
Please upload the file to mclo.gs instead of sending the raw file. This makes reading the contents of the file a lot easier and improves the chances of you getting the help needed.
After uploading the file, click on Save
and send the link.there are some mods that i dont know in there that may have caused it, im not sure. a temporary fix would be to downgrade to 2.1.0, which shouldn't have this issue
DH 2.1.0?
yes, you are now using distant horizons 2.1.2, downgrading to 2.1.0 should fix the issue
Ok, I deleted the sqlites again and am now loading all the chunks
It crashed while sitting loading chunks. I will try again though
Looks a lot more normal now, but the blocks usually aren't un-textured at that close of a distance
There still is hard cut-off in ocean, but I assume it is just the end of my RD and it would look better on land
yep, correct
turn vanilla RD up to get untextured blocks further out
Ah, ok. Mine is at 16 right now
should be fine, zoom less i guess
Ok, lol
Out of curiosity, what biome mod are you using, it looks cool
Also, someone said there was a mod that worked w DH to get full vanilla quality for the highest (closest) quality setting in DH. Might be iris?
DH LODs cannot be full vanilla quality no matter what, it is hard coded deep into the core of DH
Only thing you can do is increase vanilla RD to 32 (or past that with mods such as NVIDIUM, Bobby, Far Sight and probably some more)
Probably not literally vanilla quality, but visually you couldnt tell a difference
But idk it was j what i read in another thread
You can do this with only DH by tuning Noise texture and fog
works for everything but water
for water you can indeed use Iris and shaders
but it not longer is vanilla in any way and if you would look at raw terrain blocks, Noise texture with no shaders is better for the land
Terralith for the biomes
