World generator telling me to lower cpu load, even though with very little is being used
The generation seems to still be working, just very very slowly

It's probably fine. Most of the time that message can be ignored
but it isnt? The generation is only a couple chuncks a minute, which doesnt seem fine to me
what other mods do you have?
none that i can think of that should interfere, only some default performance mods that i have used with dh before i swapped to 1.21
which worked fine
If you have CPU load set to low, it will be very slow
If you are not using them already install these mods:
- Noisium
- Faster Random
They speed up chunk generation
Lithium might also help
i do have lithium
i have genereted chuncks before, only a couple weeks ago, at normal minecraft speeds, the speeds im getting now are about having to wait a minute for an 8 chunck render distance
with the max settings for gpu load
the mods did not make a noticable difference
im gettting about 1-3 chuncks getting loaded in every 10 seconds still
/slowgen
If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)Try second part
my cpu is around 50%
also i do see boxes flying about
So you can probably increase CPU load to the next level
Those are currently queued and generated chunks, if the boxes "move" it is working
.
You can also turn down the compression in DH settings.
It will make saving and loading LODs a bit faster but the world size will be significantly bigger
i did have it on balanced it seems, but what are the normal speeds, it does seem to be moving faster but still very slowly compared to what i remember
and it is still asked me to lower cpu load every second
This error/warning shows up when the time required to generate 1 single chunk exceeds 60 s
you can increase the limit in DH settings
IDK where
If you CPU usage is still under 80 - 90 % you can increase CPU load to agressive
i have it on there now, i maxed it out, but having 100% seemed a bit much
There is also this
yeah, but that is going to come back later
is there anyway to prevent bamboo from even appearing, cause i kind of live in a bamboo forest
On older DH version compression was much smaller by default so in fact LODs generated a bit faster, now it is slower but lods can take up to 3x less space on the drive, you can tune it, if you have a lot of space ypu can reduce lossless compresion a bit, it will be faster and still smaller then the old DH versions
Try lokking for setting like
blocks to ignore
and check if there is an option non full blocks
or similar
but it will also hide stairs, lilipads, slabs, etc.the slabs will we annoying, but the bamboo is worse, but i did only find "Non-Colliding"
Then it must have been removed
What exacly is wrong with bamboo?
last time i loaded in a world, i think i had around probably 500 chuncks rendered in after this time, dont think i have 100 yet so it is slower for some reason
ghost bambo that appears as about 3x as tall
Was it new world or existing world?
After 1 time generation LODs will load faster
Ah yeah, you are the same person xD
half existing, half newly loaded in, though these chuncks have been loaded in before in the new world
just trying to push it up the ladder more heheh >:)
i said it before but just going to repeat, i am on the 1.21 version in case you know of any bugs on here
You can try 1.20.1 or 1.20.4 to see if all the bugs happen there as well, it will be helpfull, but I don't know about anything known to break on 1.21
is there a way to do that? without having to get rid of my old fabric install and all the mods
it seems everything is slower than usual, rendering in the old world, was about one chunck diameter every second, when before it was several chuncks, like around 10
this is what was rendered in last time, in probably like 20 minutes
It can be done with custom launchers, e.g. Modrinth or Prism
On them you can have as many versions with separate mods as you wish
You can have 1.20.1 and 1.21 ready for launch and even launch them at the same time
didnt know modrinth had a launcher, thats good to know
this also comes up when turning off lod rendering sometimes
have to restart minecraft to fix it
