How do I make a shader compatible?

I have a simple vertex shader I would like to make compatible with distant horizons. I'm sorry if i'm missing something but the shader compatibility information I could find seemed to only list compatible shaders rather than what about them makes them compatible, the developer wiki doesn't seem to mention shaders. Any help is appreciated.
