Friction from new dress shoe: break ‘em in or return ‘em?

Allen Edmonds Mcallisters, my first pair of decent leather shoes. They fit great except that they rub my navicular bone (the little bump below your ankle) in a way that hurts. I’ve heard leather shoes have a break-in period. Anyone have experience with this? Is this something that goes away with break-in or are they just a bad fit? (Second pic has no socks just to show exactly what I’m talking about.)

Something like that I’d just wear thicker socks for a bit as they break in. Also make sure you wear them sparingly. You want to break in the shoes to your foot, not the other way around

If they fit well apart from that, do the above and also just push that particular bit of collar down and out a few times - I had a similar issue with mine and it worked
