LODs just take forever to update...
I posted around a month ago the same issue, but relogging kinda worked to update LODs. But... I'ma try to explain: I have torn down a big section of my singleplayer world then rebuilt it. When it takes to update LODs, it takes for the closest ones some time to update, but then when I move further the LODs switch back to the previous ones (as if I hadn't built anything)
I turned on the distant generation, changed the CPU load, the way of generating LODs, relogged etc... so there are no restrictions for them, nothing happens. Is there any other way than relogging to force LODs to update?
This photo (which was from a previous rebuild of my world) may help with what I am trying to explain. I spent literally hours relogging and moving around the world to update the LODs, but so far they keep doing weird things. Thanks for reading 8)

the ultimate way to force LODs to update is to delete them and letting them regenerate. is that a solution for you?
my SSP world is 5000x5000 blocks ahahhahah, i have done it in the past and it took several hours to build everything, but it worked. maybe it can be my last hope, but i'm willing to pay the price
the point is, i would probably not like to delete all lods every time i build something big, so, can i just delete a lod region instead of everything?
is it possible in the config data?
you could, but it would be incredibly tedious. you would have to figure out how the sqlite file stores chunk locations, then figure out how to know what locations need to be deleted, then use a database viewer to purge those
Try this:
- Reduce vanilla RD, vanilla SD, and DH RD
- Increase CPU load
- stand inside the chunk you want to update, and change something
- wait for a bit
- bring your normal settings back
okay thank you
by the way, when generating lods, rendering "pre-existing chunks only" will make lods to generate only in the vanilla render distance or in all chunks existing in the world atm?
In all already generated vanilla chunks in the world up to your DH RD
