Brand Spotlight: Wythe - Topic of the day 6/17/24

" I started Wythe searching for icons of the past — the perfect oxford shirt, an authentic denim pearl snap, the grey sweatshirt worn to perfection. These were all things that could be found in any shopping mall, but the soul of the garment had been ripped out. I wanted the oxford shirts that Miles Davis wore, the denim pearl snaps that James Dean wore, and the sweatshirts that Paul Newman wore. This dream of a lost Americana became Wythe. The bygone heirlooms of the past, remade to fit well and last long enough to be passed down to the next generation of dreamers. "

My main issue with Whythe as with many other brands is taxes and duties make them 30-35% more expensive in the EU

I feel like their sizing differs a lot between items but they have super cool stuff

There's variance for sure But I love the generous sizing on the flannels and work shirts while still have a good crop Just got my 5th flannel on ebay and saving up for the raglan herringbone overcoat thing someday

Yeah sizing variance is a big thing with Wythe imo. I love most of their stuff, I have three shirts so far and I’m on the fence about getting an OCBD too, but it sure isn’t cheap either. It’s at a price point where I know it’ll be worth my money but it still makes me consider buying for sometimes longer than the stuff is actually available lol

I appreciate what they've done in ushering "a hint of Western" into the menswear scene. They have a couple of pieces every season that I pine after but I tend to be nervous about the sizing inconsistency.

They have like three or four stockists in Tokyo. I keep meaning to get down there and try on one of their cool shirts.

Got an oxford a couple years ago and love it. It's my go to biz caz shirt. Since the store opened in NYC, I picked up some cords and a tencel pearlsnap. Really love the feel and vibe of the tencel shirt

I like work shirts the best so far. I think I have 4. I never got around to the OCBD yet but will probably get a white one if it isn’t too long in the back.

I love Wythe and some of my favorite things I have came from them: moleskin pearl snap, herringbone work shirt, tencel pearls snap, duck hat, denim pearl snap. I’ve also purchased one of the worst fitting (for me) items I’ve ever tried on, with their shawl collar coat. I definitely recommend the brand overall, and will certainly buy more from them in the future.
