I do miss setting a reminder to post in the waywt thread on Reddit and forgetting anyway

in some regards i prefer long-form forum discussion but i like discord for moments where one is hoping for a more prompt (as in typically 6> hr) response which is to say i do in fact like it here

I miss the long writeups but really like the low barrier for adding to the discussion here. I wish we could advertise or something so that we could have greater diversity of people (regions, ages, etc)

The discord is great, back on reddit I was just a question answerer with no connection to the community. Here I've met 13 people from the server in person in just a year (if I'm counting correctly)

I lurked for years on reddit. I had no interest in engaging or posting waywt that would disappear into the void or get insane comments from average redditors. I've had a lot of fun posting here though and benefitted greatly from your collective wisdom. šŸ™

i remember when i saw the discord link in general discussion and thought "you know, i'm willing to see where this goes." mfa was the only community i really enjoyed reading, even though i was pretty much solely a lurker, on reddit. so when the server went up and subreddit went dark, i figured maybe this was my chance to stop using reddit since i'd long since become tired of seeing the same things over and over on the site. it's been a year and i rarely if ever go on the site, and when i do it's never to just browse. also benefited way more from the server than the subreddit in terms of what i've learned

People spoke of the 'community' aspect of MFA in the Golden Era (beyond the straightforward q&a component) and it's something I never really found until being on the Discord. I've learned so much and gotten to know so many awesome people in my time here and am grateful for it.

Mfad has really helped me step up my fashion game from where I was a year ago. Itā€™s really incredible to think about how much knowledge Iā€™ve gained in such a short span of time. The community on here has been amazing and Iā€™ve made a bunch of friends whereas, if mfa had remained on Reddit, I donā€™t think I ever would have really participated to the extent I have on here.

Joined rather recently. Much prefer this over reddit now that it has been taken over by other people and is completely dead. Guides are great, I'm finally able to rework my wardrobe and get nice clothes that I enjoy wearing.

It took me a while to jump into the discord thing & I still mostly donā€™t know how to interact with it, but it feels a lot more engaging than the Reddit ever did. Thereā€™s way more casual back & forth which feels better than the post/comment relationship on Reddit

One benefit to the Discord I've found is that alternative styles or inspo aren't immediately downvoted into invisibility; there's many things in #waywt that I wouldn't see if we were posting fits on reddit, much like how many of the posts in #inspiration probably wouldn't make it to the front page because it's not an well-manicured gallery of things in house style

I luckily went looking for MFA on reddit a year ago and saw it was closed due to the changes that reddit was making to the website. I'm extremely happy that I made the decision to check out the discord and make the effort to engage (something that I don't feel I would have done if the community had still been on reddit). I think discord promotes more of a community and makes it much easier to engage in discussions as they happen, and to get feedback on what you are wearing. This place has definitely had a massive improvement on what I wear and how I wear it on a personal level. Once again glad I found this place and appreciate everyone who's here.

I also really prefer this format to Reddit, even though I donā€™t chat much. Iā€™ve learned a ridiculous amount just by tuning in to WAYWT and posting some styling suggestions over the past year. I posted a couple questions towards the end of the subreddit and the vibe was just not great (acknowledging that my questions were surely very half baked as a beginner). I donā€™t think I would have made the progress Iā€™ve made if I stayed over there. But itā€™s just felt much easier to participate here and everyone is chill, not disparaging or aggressive. Easier to dip into a convo and not have every utterance subject to an up or down vote. Also I kinda like how everyone doesnā€™t post brands with their WAYWT, which always felt intimidating to me since plenty of my fits, especially at first, would be like American Eagle | Dockers | Target

A lot of the vibe is fostered by how wonderfully aggressive the moderation team are. Vibes based modding is the only truth that stops a place from degenerating into whatever Reddit is now.

Love the format. Love the help and advice. Love the confidence I've gained from following that advice, or even offering it to others. Just incredibly grateful and inspired.

yeah. especially as someone who wears alt, and tends to prefer alt fashion in general. genuinely looking forward to being allowed to post ridiculous levels of punk and the like when i can start getting funkier than just "lowkey skater"

I just joined the Discord today and am blown away by the quality and quantity of discussions here. I very intermittently visited the subreddit over the years, and lately I've been disappointed to see how quiet it has become. Little did I know the discourse had migrated here. Glad to see it's still going strong.

I got into fashion just about the time of the exodus, so mfad is pretty much all I know. It's been fun, and I think I dress a lot better than I did a year ago.

I never posted on Reddit because I think it's an awful platform for discussion. This place has been nice. No pretension at all, and even though I don't vibe with the general MFAD fashion trends, it's a fun place to learn stuff.

Pants guy with the little birthday hat is very cute šŸ™‚ And I will say that MFAD is better organized, the mods have put a lot of effort into organization in the discord, there's lots of little categories and threads to niche yourself into, which I personally like
