We wear short shorts. Or long shorts. Or baggy shorts. Or cutoffs. Or jorts. You get it. When it's hot, the legs wanna breathe, and unless you're the Don (hell, even if you are), you might as well let them. What shorts are you looking forward to wearing this summer?

Got some patagonia baggies 5" inseam. Plus have some cotton chinos I'm thinking of taking up. Used to cuff them but it was awks since they'd sometimes uncuff themselves. If that makes sense.
But yeah, baggies are best 😎

I think short shorts are still in for some tech wear and athletic adjacent retro styles

If you're gonna cut down from 5" inseam to like 3" you gotta account for the proportions with either a bigger or smaller top
ppl look so weird just wearing a shirt and some tiny shorts
I think a bigass shirt over little shorts is still cool
the shorts that are really out are those slim cigarette shorts that tastefully came down above the knee but were very restrictive
short shorts are fine, they look like beachwear

in a practical sense baggies are efficient, and old vintage swim trunks are sufficiently short enough and cool enough for me otherwise
I dont really pay toooo much attention to how short my shorts are
But i think my thighs look good
So if theyre peekin out im about it
I feel like when I’m thinking of short shorts I’m thinking 5” and smaller. I don’t think 7” are short shorts unless you’re tall

On the note of swim trunks, how common is it for men to wear swim trunks as regular shorts on particularly hot summer weekends?

I don't think anyone just puts on a swim suit unless they plan on swimming
I got space in my heart for all short lengths. No wrong answer. I rock with baggies and these equally.
Ya it's more common to just wear shorts that can be swam in bc of their material
My only maybe real complaint about short shorts is that sometimes u don’t get the fun flare or skirt like shape I like on my shorts
Like I have some uniqlo shorts that are essentially baggies I'd wear out and about
But my gams r out, little thigh tats out, so it’s fine
3" running shorts and my needles lace shirt is how I'm living this summer (and last).
I have ll bean baggies knock offs that i just wear as shorts but also will swim in
I love the look of my baggies, been wearing them for outdoor work this summer

Patagonia stand up shorts have giant pockets. Too bad they stopped making them
Can easily fit a game boy (original not color) in them
I like the ll bean suplex shorts. Cheaper, fun colors, fit better on me as well.

people have strong opinions about the baggies liner which is so wild to me
i used to be into baggies but bigger longer shorts look better with wide fits imo
plus your height plays into it more than people usually talk about, like 7" inseam on me will look like a 5 on shorter people
feel like there was a moment a few years ago on mfa where everyone was like just get 5 because it's fun and flirty for the summer but they are not gonna look the same on everyone!

You’ve clearly never lost your phone in a pair of Patagonia Baggies or seen the pockets on a pair of Gramicci Gadget Shorts
I wear these linen shorts from Sage de Cret mainly. I can fit multiple beers in those pockets.
all i gotta say is, if they weren't meant to be short, they'd be called "longs" instead 🤷🏾♂️
