Low-detail LODs of non-full blocks rendering behind them while they are still visible

Hey, I've had this issue for a while, on various versions, and I've been wondering if there's some setting I'm missing that would fix it. Non-full or semitransparent blocks, like fences or lanterns, will often have their LODs showing up behind them while the actual block is still visible, which looks really bad. Screenshot taken on forge 1.19.2 with the latest release candidate from #announcements, but similar issues have occurred on other versions.

cranking that all the way up does seem to fix the issue, thank you! hopefully I won't run into any issues with holes in LODs

is there anything that could work similarly for kelp too?
