probably not a problem, but having backups is never a bad idea, stable build or not

i would say so, yes, but its also less tested, so you never know

No it can't but it could, in theory, break your minecraft instance

what does that mean for the minecraft instance? Can I just restart the game or does it break stuff in the files?
If you come across some error, the chance is indeed very high you can restart minecraft and it will be fixed. If, again: in theory, it breaks something in the files, you could just make a new instance and nothing will be lost as all of your progress is saved by the server
