Advice on using DH for the first time 1.20.6 w/datapacks

Hello all, I have been super impressed with the capabilities and genius implementation of LODs in minecraft. I am currently just getting back into Minecraft and am still catching up with all of the changes made since I last played. I just recently found out about data packs and am hoping to begin using some community made ones as they appear less game breaking to remove/play without and updated more frequently compared to mods. I am currently playing 1.20.6 with the Bundles and 1.21 datapack and am wondering if it would be better to get Fabric or Forge to use only DH. Which (Fabric/Forge) will provide better long term and fast update support, for when the new Minecraft Update comes out, and which seems to be the better software platform for basic users? It seems that the new DH version uses a form of Forge called NeoForge. What are the extensive ramifications of using this new fork? I am a little familiar with the drama with the Forge community but do not have any grasp on what that means for me as a user. I have not kept up with modded minecraft since around 2018 and feel super out of the loop. Thank you for anyone who can help answer this! TL/DR: SHOULD I USE FABRIC OR FORGE (NEOFORGE?) TO PLAY ONLY DH IN MC 1.20.6 W/ DATAPACKS FOR SINGLEPLAYER/LAN?
Solution:
If you use datapack and don't care about mods much use Fabric, it's more lightweight and just loads faster

forge has more variety in terms of boss, machine, and other mob related mods. fabric is allegedly more performant than forge, BUT please take that statement with a large grain of salt as i have barely used forge and i am basing my perception on hearsay. if anyone else has more experience on forge then please include ur input. also forge and fabric are pretty major mod loaders and i dont see either falling out of fashion any time soon so both should receive longterm DH support

I have only ever used Forge especially back when I would make modpacks Is fabric a pretty easy learning curve you think?

That's good to hear. How often is there an awesome mod these days that doesn't support fabric? or is it the standard to create support for both?

But I would recommand adding some performance mods alongside DH Also Forge just split into NeoForge and Forge, more people are working on neoforge Some good fabric performance mods: - Sodium - Iris - Litium - Noisium - Faster Random - FerriteCore There is way more but these shoud significantly boost your fps, game loading time and chunks generation If you also want to boost immersivnes check out some audio and smalles mods: - Ambient Sounds - Presence Footsteps - Sound Physics Remastered (THIS ONE IS PERFORMANCE INTENSIVE!)
