nice blurb
Nice blurb. Anyways, is using a cheap repro of a fragrance considered taboo?
I'm using a local repro of Le Labo's Santal 33 that my lady cant seem to get enough of. As much as I want to smell the real thing, I just cant seem to justify dumping huge amounts of cash for a fragrance.
In my rotation:
Thé Noir
Thé Matcha
Egyptian Musk oil
"Michelle Obama" oil (yes, that's what it's really called)
Baccarat rouge 540
Malin + Goetz dark rum
Hermes un jardin sur le nil
What's it called? Nothing wrong with that imho
It's from a local company here in The Philippines simply named "Frage" then labeled by the fragrance they are "inspired" by.
Nothing taboo about it, dupes/repros are popular due to pricing but they usually don't last as long (on skin and the scent is never 100% the same)
Smelling nice is cool.
My go tos are 1899 by Histoires de Perfumes and Continental by Cra-Yon.
I try to match my outfits vibe with my scent usually.
clandestine laboratory's ashes is my first and only bottle rn, smells like a mix of petrichor + floral and makes me feel insanely nostalgia about the past when I used to stare out the window when it rained
But if you really like the dupe, chances are you'll like the authentic fragrance more, and paying upfront for le labo's 15ml bottle is better than rebuying a replica over and over again imo (no copes ftw) @ayoqna
I'll try it when the opportunity comes! Thank you!
That sounds wonderful.
I think the copious use of Axe bodyspray that my fellow students practiced in high/middle school has so far turned me away from the concept.
Maybe I will dabble at some point, rn I feel like my slush funds are better spent in getting better clothes bc I still have some gaps to fill. Fragrances feel like an advanced move.
I've been micro influenced into Clandestine Laboratories which is definitely my favorite house rn. Was wearing Silver all winter, and got (the last bottle of) Pool Boy for the summer. Plus Mark is generous with his samples, and I got a few samples with my bottle I'm excited to try (most excited about Enigma)
Would love to try more niche frags, but I don't wear fragrance daily since I'm mostly working for home or working out so I go through bottles rather slowly.
Personally im a one fragrance type guy so i usually rock something versatile and not to expensive. My personal pick is the YSL Y edp. Because it fits in almost every occasion and you cant never go wrong with an aromatic and woody scent.
I have a bottle of Tom Ford fougere d’argent that I got at a warehouse sale. I wear fragrances infrequently so it has lasted probably 5 years at this point. Still lots left. Smells good.
I haven’t tried many niche fragrances, but my favorites are Terre d’Hermes, Tuscan Leather, Memoirs of a Tresspasser, The Noir, YSL l’Homme. Only done decants so far, but I think I’ll get a bottle soon.
the only perfume i’ve worn is the occasional dusting of bath and body works’s vampire blood
Started going down this rabbit hole a few months ago. Creed Green Irish Tweed has been a fave so when that ran out I got Armaf Tres Nuit to scratch the itch for a lot less. Also a fan of Dolce & Gabbana The One. Two very different fragrances so now I'm looking for a 3rd to round things out.
I have a few go-to’s.
Aesop’s Karst, CDG amazingreen and kyoto. A few beach/ozone themed ones I wanna try out as well.
I love Scandal by JPG and Invictus
Creed Aventus smells nice but is too expensive and the dupes I bought were trash
Anybody know a perfume that smells like rain
These are the only two colognes I've ever liked enough to use occasionally (#2 especially). If y'all have recs based on these, let me know 😎
Michelle Obama oil lmfao
What does that smell like
I suck at describing scents, but my gf said: sharp, sandalwood-y, slightly sweet
I use a Calvin Klein One dupe. Baby new to fragrance, still on the first bottle I've ever bought 🥲
My go-to fragrance house is Imaginary Authors, a small indie from Portland, OR. Telegrama is my jam.
In my 30s, I bought my first good fragrance after researching a bit and trying out a few in the stores: TOM FORD Ombré Leather. It's good.
The description says:
Fragrance Family: Warm & Spicy
Scent Type: Woody Spices
Key Notes: Black Leather, Violet Flower, Jasmine Flower
i tend to like fragrances in the same family of scents, cool, blue water-y type of vibe. i currently have Polo Blue, Polo Sport, Adidas Moves and Aqua Di Gio lol. 💧
I'm a bit of a noob in all this, is there much real benefit in dropping loads of money on fragrance compared to a simple body spray, I tend to use joules enjoy the view body spray
bumping this up, my current default is Mad et Len Graphite, but I have both of their sampler packs in my queue for after the Graphite is out
I've enjoyed Margiela's By The Fireplace, The Sum's Black, and CDG Incense Kyoto in the past, and naturally gravitate to smells of smoke and wood 🪵
