Best CPU to pair with a 1060 3GB
I relised i have lots of extra compenents and thought i could build another pc with some of these older components for the hell of it. I have a 1060 3gb, what cpu would best pair with it? I used to have it paired with a i7-8700 which was a prebuilt which worked well. So I could buy a i7-8700 from amazon refurbished for around $140, or if theres a better option let me know!

Define "for the hell of it". What do you need this PC to do?
Yeah, especially as 3 GB VRAM is very limiting for actually playing video-games, even at 1080p. But if you want to use it for a home network storage, or as a streaming PC, you don't really need much, and the GPU won't be a bottleneck either.
Originally i was thinking abt reselling it but i doubt i could make a profit plus a 1060 3gb pc isnt gonna sell for much
It would be nice to also just have a second pc, for no reason other than i can have a second one
But im planning on upgrading my gpu sometime so then ill have a 3060 kicking around i could put in a new pc so maybe i should just do that i dont know lol
None of this is a decent use case for a second PC tho
Like if you aren't going to use it then what's the point in building it?
You could make the argument that it's a backup system in case something happens to your current one, but why build a whole PC and not just have spare parts
Also as a backup PC it wouldn't make sense because either your board/CPU dies or your GPU does, rarely will both happen at the same time. Since that'd be the case you would just swap around the working parts and not need a whole other PC
forget i asked
