update sodium and iris
Rundown on each mod and version you need:
- Sodium 0.5.8+1.20.4 (also compatible with 1.20.1),
- Iris version 1.7+1.20.1 or 1.7+1.20.4,
- Indium version 1.0.30+1.20.4 (also compatible with 1.20.1),
- Fabric API (I forgot the version number but should be latest for 1.20.1 or 1.20.4)
- Distant Horizons version 2.0.3-a-dev+1.20.1 or higher, preferably 2.1.0-a-RC1 as in #links-n-downloads, choose for your Minecraft version.
Once confirmed all mods are installed with correct versions, you should be golden.
change that to #announcements , nightly link's broken atm
wont load
Right.
did you even read
You forgot Indium and you have wrong version of Iris and Distant Horizons...
and did you set up mc 1.20 instance instead of 1.20.1
followed what u said
dh from #announcements x3
k now its loading in
update or no
no
i dont get what i did to deserve this bro
it feels like im banned from using distant horizons bro
i tried everything
/slowgen
If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)if it's too slow for you, blame mojang
so what does it means if lods are loading in the background
literally that
lods are loading in the background
also wheres cpu utlization
task manager
you can do the option 2
which is easier
100%
and you can literally see it
i used geforce
:maybike:
that's gpu
it says cpu tho
cpu says 100%
:maybike:
so what do i do if lods are loading in the background
then it's working
Time for the waiting game. Give it at least 15 minutes for things to start appearing.
:linus:
This ain't Bedrock Edition if you asked.
OR you can do the second option and see the chunks generating in real time
shaders breaks lods still
https://ptb.discord.com/channels/774352792659820594/1203904707270279208
download shaders from there
:harold:
I'm inclined to believe the OP may have Dementia, all things considered.
doesnt work
main bliss zip doesnt work
:harold:
it should
it doesnt
Extract the zip file.
i extracted it
:thonkwithshades:
is there any error in chat log
No
You sure you pull out the folder inside it?
wdym
no i didnt
There's another folder inside that with the same name. Pull that one out.
If all else fails, you still have 4 other options...
:harold:
i gotta do a command for this type of scenario :maybike:
It appears GitHub package the downloaded zip incorrectly.
Will report that to X0nk when I get home.
yeah still
nuh uh
yuh uh
anyway, you can try latest bsl
it still loads extremely slow idk why im the only one with this problem
it's gonna be slow when generating
after it's done generate those chunks, subsequent loading will be fast
it shouldnt take 5 hours
how many rd you're setting it to rn
500
:harold:
It will take 5 hours...
you're genning 256m worth of blocks
before 1000 was not a big deal bro
what do you expect
256 millions of blocks, and you're using tectonic which increase world gen height
Feel like that slow lod wall of text did absolutely nothing to the OP.
so how much should it be then
and slow down generation time much more
128, the default.
That should take minutes, not hours.
Beyond 256, you'll see generation time taking up more than an hour.
weird
then how can other people have 1000 render distance
so when the 128 render distance is done loading so I ramp it up
they pregenerate the lods beforehand
They waited.
:linus:
^
You can take it step by step, yes.
Loading time is cumulatively after all. Stepping up from 128 to 256 may only leaves you with like 45 minutes of generation time at best.
everytime you double the render distance, roughly add x4 the generation time
Also u guys gotta wait 45 mins also?
Of course.
i pregen 1024 rd overnight
How do you do that?
just standing still
I went crazy the other day, took me literally a week to generate 2048.
:harold:
I can’t leave my pc on that much
do I put to sleep
rip
No generation going to happen. You have to leave your computer up and running.
how tho wouldn’t it damage the pc
Not at all. Your computer is still able to handle it.
unless your pc cooling's absolutely horrendous, no
Unless you have an Nvidia FE RTX 3000 series card...
plus how do I make it so it lives it on
:linus:
leaves
all night
leave the game and the pc on
Full screen your game, press E to open inventory, then leave.
also do I generate it with shaders
Turn off shaders. You don't need to waste your GPU performance on it while generating.
So when u turn it on it won’t take another 10 hours to generate?
so it doesn’t turn off if ur in a game
ye
CPU: welp guys we have to work for 10 hours.. even tho our owner is sleeping
Ram: how the heck am I going to do this
my reaction to the information
wdym
good or bad
it is what it is
no good or bad
Kinda scared to leave it all night tho
but wouldn’t the monsters kill u
at night
Graphical rendering does not get influenced by lod generation.
how do u prevent that
you can do a creative world with the same seed
:thonkwithshades:
then transfer lod from that creative world to survival world
/lodstored
Single Player:
- Overworld:
.minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- Nether: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIM-1/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- End: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIM1/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- Custom Dimensions: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIMENSION_FOLDER/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
Multiplayer:
- .minecraft/Distant_Horizons_server_data/SERVER_NAME/
Playing on a survival world? Then you don't need any more than 256.
complicating as heck
what am I suppose to do with this
if you decide to pregen on another world with same seed
you can transfer sqlite file located from there
How do I transfer
:maybike:
from the location from the bot
no like im confused in general how do i transfer
to where
read the bot
it applies to every world
:maybike:
still confused
like what am I suppose to do with the code
do I click on it or
it's the location of the sqlite file
:maybike:
Alr this is confusing
so I make a creative world with the same seed
It finishes generating
then what do I do from there
im gonna sound like a broken record
but you transfer sqlite from the pregen world to survival world
which locates here
/lodstored
Single Player:
- Overworld:
.minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- Nether: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIM-1/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- End: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIM1/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- Custom Dimensions: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIMENSION_FOLDER/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
Multiplayer:
- .minecraft/Distant_Horizons_server_data/SERVER_NAME/
where’s the sqlite
Is it this
YES
did you not read that
yeah just confused what the sqlite was
Alr I think I got it
I’ll do it tmrw tho
so do I like set it to 2048 and then go sleep
Yes I waited
Holy s-
Also if you load it in and go far away do u need to load it in again
if it's already generated, no
Oh
Did no one suggest increasing CPU load setting, and decreasing quality for faster generation or am I blind?
We could, doesn't really help if they wanted over 500 lod distance...
:harold:
Definitely helps, why wouldn't it?
:harold:
Still going to take like 4 hours instead of 5.
On low CPU impact and high quality
compared to I paid for the whole CPU and minimal quality
it would take me 2x time to generate all that
i did use /slowgen command but
:maybike:
:harold:
I'm blind
