How to stop stuttering
I don't understand why I keep stuttering. I have an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS and while at 60 fps the video feels choppy.

Try a different java distro like Adoptium or GraalVM, these are more optimised than the default one so you'll stutter less.
Also here is a very simple guide for optimised java args

java distributor?
Yes
whats that?
I am not a java expert but its kinda the thing that manages the RAM for minecraft
ok
TLDR, default java distro that comes with minecraft is trash so ppl use other ones
:cou:
Yeah but mods cant change the java distro
suprized im just hearing about this
ima try it out
It can optimise ram usage but it cant change how its actually managed
Other java distros can do stuff like free up ram in the background instead of freezing the game
Its very complex and java experts are probably hating how I explain it lmao
@MarijnIsN00B (UTC+1) how download?
For 1.20.x Id recommend https://www.graalvm.org/downloads
Download GraalVM
GraalVM is an advanced JDK with ahead-of-time Native Image compilation.
And get the Java 21 one
but no installer
Indeed its not
its easier for end users to get adoptium installer
Its just extract the zip and place it somewhere u wont forget
x64, windows, jre installer exe
Like in the program files folder
but then they need to set the environment variables
No?
Wdym
I just extracted it and placed it in program files
oh right
sorry im sleepy
Dw about it lol
so after i extract it to the program folder
what do i do with it now?
What launcher do you use for minecraft?
official
hmmmmm
ok i think i get it
uh oh
wait it's coming back up
nvm it stopped again
nvm its up
and stop
ok its going now
Just give it a bit
Are you on a harddrive?
ssd
must be a bunch of small files
Yeah probs
although there are only 429 items
Idk
Maybe just goofy ahh windows 11
Or maybe just bad luck
I swear its right on the edge
FINISH IT ALREADY!!!!!
:maybike:
ok it done
yippe
we should ban the one that made that a sticker
now do kirby
i dont even know how to make a sticker
isn't that the GC?
I would guess the distro would change the JAVA VM
Yeah but Im explaining in easy to understand way
I like how theres 2 stickers to tell people to go to the help me
there are way more non-stickers
way way more

xD
Ok lets see if it works
Okay but help dude with issues lol
Yup that seems to be correct
alright time to play the waiting for everything to be cached, loaded in, and rendered game
Also probs good to mention that with high CPU load, you will have stutters
Usually people set the CPU load high, let a good about of LODs generate and then set it lower
I have low load
also I don't see any difference
With the amount of stuttering?
yes
How much ram do you have allocated?
8gb
what cpu do you have?
AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS
oh right
Mentioned in the opening message
forgot they did
Lol
Its getting late here
naahhh its fine
i only just got back from work
did i forget to mention
i have around 176 mods
might the way mods are loaded into the game affect cpu stuttering
Depends on what kind of mods they are
mostly performance enhancing
some are vanilla+ style mods
When you're ingame, does the F3 menu show that ram is maxing out when you stutter?
nope it never goes above 50% usage
now that i think about it I should probably lower the allocated RAM
i actually just checked and the jar count is 52
while there are 176 detected mods
thats normal
you count the jars
A single jar file can load multiple mods
just tried something
Solution
setting cpu usage minimal impact in the DH settings
and all stutter is magically gone
and my fps isn't budging from the limiter
very interesting how a single notch down can have such a drastic effect
huh thats weird
but alright

I always thought I was being capped by my GPU
but it's now able to reach 100 fps uncapped with shaders
very nice
but also detrimental to my gpu lifespan
so im capping at 70 for now
nah thats not something to worry about
they are designed to work at their hardest
unless you have a intel i9
those break when you use them
I always measure how hard my gpu is working by putting my hand infront of the intergrated keyboard, right before the screen
if I can keep it there for at least 10 seconds without my hand burning, my gpu is working fine
pro tip: HWInfo
GPUs basically work like this: it will either break in the first few days or it will just last you until you upgrade it
Anyways very cool
