What To Look For In A Summer Suit
I am going to Italy (mainly Rome) for a few weeks this summer (July) as well as some other trips. I have been to Rome before and I know it gets hot and humid that time of year.
So I was wondering about things like color, material, patterns, and shape to look for.
I am about 5'10" and 150lbs, I have long legs, short torso, a bit wider in the thighs, and have pale skin

What kind of occasion do you want your suit to be for?
Should it be some kind of black-tie getup? A holiday suit or some kind of buisness appropriate attire?
Just everyday wear & religious
I am staying with a group at a religious convent so I want to dress a bit nicer
there's two dimensions to 'nicer' in that sense, more formal and also 'appropriate to the setting'
Personally I like to dress more formally but I also want to dress appropriately for the setting so a mix of the two
Sorry if I'm being a bit confusing
no worries
What kind of convent?
do you already own a suit? or failing that, know your measurements (chest, sleeve, inseam, etc)?
Any specific order etc?
order as in religious order
I'll check

from what I can tell suiting should be fine
There is a dress code too:
No jeans
No shorts
No hats
Close toed shoes
And more formal wear for a feast day
Formal as in at least shirt and tie
single breasted suit in a lightweight fabric (summer wool, linen, linen blend, maybe cotton or a wash and wear) and conservative color plus shirt, tie and formal(ish) shoes feels like the move to me
Ok
if you already own such a suit you may already be set
I would stick to solid colors with the suit and propably the tie as well
if not, do you own a suit in general and if so, how does it fit
All my suits are of thicker fabrics or darker colors
My best fitting suit is black
Fits snuggly
in a vacuum i would say go back to that brand, find a suit that's linen or light wool or other lightweight fabric and that's tan or khaki or gray or navy color
Ok
'snug' fit might not be the best thing though for summer as you want some level of breathability - a half canvas or no canvas suit may help in that regard
same thing for the sress shirt - linen, silk, lightweight cotton in white or light blue/light gray/cream/light pink that fits well without being too tight
if you're trying on suits you can always make another thread in #questions-and-advice asking about the fit (with pics)
Thanks guys
I would stay away from silk personally, feels too luxurious for a convent. But that is propably just my personal intuition.
good insight I assume that a silk tie would still be okay though since that is the norm when it comes to natural tie fabrics do you think that would be okay?
i think sik tie is fine
thanks
I really like wool silk linen blends for summer suits as well
