Distant Horizons doesn't work with Bliss Shader
I'm on 1.20.1 Forge with Oculus. I tried to use different shaders with Distant Horizons. Seems like Distant Horizons working but other shaders are not perfectly compatible with it. I tried using Bliss Shaders-main one and it doesn't even render outside of the chunk distance.

Oculus:linus: Distant Horizons only have native integration with Iris, and that's exclusively on Fabric as of this message. On Forge, there is no advancements made for shaders support.
I thought Oculus is some kind port of Iris for forge
but I see what you mean
it is
but not the beta
and DH has to support oculus which I doubt will happen
But it works with other shaders partly
people in the oculus discord have been saying that iris will release on neoforge
Do you really think that it is Oculus?
is this true tho?
it is true
yeah then just wait for that
Do Neoforge mods work on Forge?
or do I need to switch Neoforge?
it's recommended to switch to fabric
but no there is no parity between forge and neoforge
Yeah but amount of mods in Fabric are really limited
Thats why I kinda dont want to switch
couldn't be further from the truth
fabric has way more mods than forge
To answer your question here, Oculus is a third-party Forge port of Iris. We from the Iris team do not have any involvement with the Oculus team.
Yeah of course
I came here by thinking maybe you encountered this situation
:linus:
Well, we do get a few questions about it, unfortunately...
Thanks you for your quick answers though. Really saved me a lot of time. Preventing me going crazy.
Now, in the far future, Iris may port over to NeoForge. From the looks of it, NeoForge is planned to be forward compatible with Forge mods, so there is some chance of getting things to work.
neoforge has already branched off from forge and mods made for neoforge don't work on forge.
But, chances are you might get Oculus native support first instead of a NeoForge variant going. It is a very distant future.
If i manage to get my og mods in Fabric I might consider switching to Fabric instead
@hardester
I switched to Fabric
I have these mods installed
and still cant render the distances
only with shaders
you need iris 1.7
#dh-compatibility-faq
and dh 2.0.2
I was about to celebrate, before you said it still doesn't work, and then I noticed the version numbers...
I couldnt find it
Installer on the website didnt installed 1.7
.
oh its the beta one
Thanks now its working
Thats not true at all by the way
I was just checking out Fabric mods and most of the big mods are either partly ported or just not supported on Fabric
big modsso you mean popular mods I meant fabric has more mods than forge not that it has more popular mods
the ones that bring most features and yes most popular ones
and they're popular for a reason I can tell now
Apotheosis, Tinkers Construct, Mekanism, Immersive Engineering, Ars Noveau, Sophisticated Backpacks, Extreme Reactors, Mystical Agriculture, Cyclic
Create even ported recently
I feel like communication has broken down somewhere, because over on the Oculus discord they're like "oh we won't ever support DH because Iris is getting ported to Forge, so actually you won't need Oculus at all"
Sounds like that won't happen though :Sadge:
It's a shame, I would be a lot happier with Fabric if only Quark and Alex's Caves would get ported over.
It is
I donโt know whoโs saying it isnโt
Iris will be on Forge 1.20.1 eventually
Really? Even in this thread it said it may possibly one day port to Neoforge
On 1.20.1, NeoForge and Forge are the same thing
Ah well I'll be the first to admit I don't know anything about Neoforge
Fingers crossed I guess
Neoforge is sorta just the forge equivalent of what quilt is for fabric, or at least thats how I see it (I am patiently waiting in my shack on a hill for the day iris comes to forge. ๐งโโ๏ธ )
Iโve been hearing a lot of stuff that sort of implies that the neoforge port is very up in the air. Perhaps just trying to take pressure off the people working on it idk.
Is there any more information available besides a โvery distant futureโ?
to be more specific: between now and the heat death of the universe
Iโll mark that on my calendar thank you
Is there any way to play with distant horizons and bliss shaders at 1.19.2?
no
๐ฆ
are some plans to make it in further?
no
1.19.2 is old
unless ims ch-
old = bad
:aolgroove:
ims will infact not change his mind
I tested Embeddium, Oculus, Acedium (neoforge port of Nvidium) and Mixy (neoforge port of Voxy) today. The results, of course, are not as impressive as with Distance Horizon, but at least they are compatible with shaders. It's also worth considering the fact that this is an early alpha version. Now Cortex is actively developing Voxy+Iris support. But, again, Oculus != Iris. And since Oculus developers (Asek3 & dima_dencep) are a bunch of assholes, it would be better if we just wait for Iris official release on NeoForge.
there is always the hidden third point
of iris but its a lua script

xd
Element based naming is overused by now. The fuck is Acedium and why don't people choose a more original names?
What does Acedium have to do with elements? It's a fork of Nvidium, which also has nothing to do with it. I don't understand how you're bringing this into it. ๐
it's a suffix used for metal elements
blud really got corrected by a bot
:this:
We need to switch to quark, leptons, and boson names :bardin_nod:
/J*
maybe some myuons
Actually, we should just name mods after early 2000s internet memes tbh'
