VERY first blob of skirt won't stick
And it interferes with the rest of the print. Adhesion for everything else is great. What's the deal?

That first part looks a bit thinner than the rest of your skirt, so you´re nozzle is probably not fully primed yet. This makes sense as the reason you print a skirt is to prime the nozzle before the actual print starts, but if the imperfect skirt bothers you there are a few things you could try:
- Add another prime line somewhere whre it does not interfere with your print.
- You could try adding G1 E3 to the end of your start gcode, that will make your extruder extrude 3mm of Filament before it even starts printing to make sure the nozzle is fully primed. You will have to play around with this value though, as if it is too high, you will get material coming out of the nozzle before the print starts and if it is too low, the nozzle won´t be primed yet and the skirt won´t stick.
- You could slow down your first layer and hope it sticks anyway, even if there isn´t quite enough material being extruded.
those are some thick lines, I don't think your first layer squish is right either
I have a 0.8 nozzle. Extrusion width is set to Auto. Isn't that thickness to be expected?
I will give this a shot
(and report back to reward you helpful souls with more buging
I would think you'd still want flatter, but I could be wrong. Haven't tried .8
OH you mean thickness. They are set to 0.4. Caliper is measuring closer to 0.3
that seems like a big discrepancy, .4 to .3
for those searching in the future: I fixed this issue handily by lowering both the temperature of the hotend and the bed. I had cranked up temps after switching to a 0.8 nozzle, but neglected to lower them for the first layer, where I wasn't extruding with much flow due to lower speeds. Also 70c (ratrig standard) is probably too hot for the bed
thanks @TheTik and @Max for your help!
