Do cheap suits still exist?

I have my wedding coming up in June, and I'm having trouble finding a suit in my price range that also fits the look I want. I'm trying to find a hunter green/dark green suit. I already have shoes, so I'm trying to keep everything else (suit, shirt, tie, belt) in the $300–$400 range. So far I've found tons of stuff that's either in my price range or the color/style I want, but not really both. I only need the suit for two nights (wedding and the reception), and so far Banana Republic Factory and Suit Shop seem to have everything I want, I just don't know enough about the quality. I found a back-up suit at Macy's, but I'm not thrilled with the color. Does anyone have experience with these brands or have any recommendations for different brands?

I think Spier and Mackay does one That’s our consensus favorite for budget-friendly suits

I think Spier and Mackay red label is in this price range. Hmm...if you want EVERYTHING for $300-400, that's going to be hard. You will probably need to shop secondhand.

If you're only going to wear it for 2 nights what's the concern about quality?

If you dont have a suit already and its within your means i think this is a good excuse to spring for a nicer suit that you’ll continue to use after the wedding. Its generally a good idea to keep at least one suit in your wardrobe anyway

Fair. I really don't mind going cheap on a short. The jacket/pants are my biggest concern. I still want reasonable quality for those two nights. Comfortable, built well enough, good fit...

What do you mean specifically? Quality is pretty nebulous and $400 is a very small budget for a suit in a non-traditional color Anything short of a quick-change velcro suit is going to be built well enough to last 2 nights. Fit and comfort is more about the cut and getting it tailored appropriately imo. If you wanted a navy suit I think that's more doable scouring ebay and then taking what you find to a tailor but a dark green suit just won't be as plentiful on eBay so you'll likely have to buy new and $400 cap excludes a lot

If you're a 38 or 38L Spier has this for 20% off which would hit just above your budget with shipping/tax https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/green-hopsack---neo-cut-8255-neo2-hr01

Thanks for that, unfortunately I'm a 42R :/ I saw an Emerald Green suit on their website which could work, but it won't let me add it to my cart. I'm assuming it's sold out or maybe I missed something.

Double check the measurements. Spier runs p slim but it looks like they have a 42R in stock in the contemporary fit (I wouldn't buy slim fit)

Oooh, nice. Thanks! It comes to under $300 with a bundle discount too, so that's perfect.

Is there a thread on thrifting a suit. What to look for? How big can you go to get it tailor fit?
