odd interactions between transparency and lod chunks

I'm seemingly unable to get this transparent block to look correct with LOD chunks behind it or when the transparent blocks are in LOD themselves. The first two images are with LOD on, the second two are with LOD off. I am not sure exactly what the problem could be.

I have this too on 1.20.4 with glass (or possibly other transparent blocks) that are some distance away from the camera. Disabling rendering fixes this. In my screenshot you can see glass panes that transition into white, but also a glass platform above. Zooming in or coming closer gets rid of this issue. Note that these glass blocks are in the same chunk as the ones below that are closer to me but don't turn white.

Try disabling/enabling transparency in DH settings And tuning overdraw prevention

well yes overdraw prevention will make it render farther away... still will break at some point. I disabled transparency and it looks even worse. Fake transparency looks the same.
