What is something you own that is “ugly” but don’t want to get rid of? - Topic of the day 3/1/24
Be it for sentimental reasons, functionality, or just because you like it, what "ugly" (whether that mean distressed, unfashionable, or just plain bad) piece can you just not part away with?

this is a crazy @Digs call-out ngl
im not sure I actually consider it ugly, but this shirt is like 20 years old, basically transparent and ready to disintegrate, but I still like it. Its also a bit sentimental since my grandpa was wearing the same shirt when I visited him a few times, so thats a nice memory
I love this coat even though it makes me look like the grinch lmao
That's beautiful
ive also got this rick owens sweater which I came across by chance, theres things I like about it, but it dosnt fit the rest of my style at all, feels unwieldly, and is starting to resemble a shaggy dog... Like I think it could be cool but not the way I do it, and I dont like the brown combined with fuzzy wool...but its SO warm and cozy and I love the big hood and flowy robe feel for lounging at home.
The Pendleton National Parks shirt I’m wearing today with the HBC stripes is ugly, but I can’t bring myself to part with it. Got it with my National Parks blanket and I also own the scarf
100% my fuzz-lined crocs. they're too damn comfy.
Mainly these Footscapes. I've deluded myself into thinking the shape and comfort makes up for the STEMbro laptop case grey colour and will dye em at some point.
"laptop case grey" is hilariously accurate
these look like a heydude but more sinister
I really like Footscapes and that was a cheapo pair
I prefer the term paleontological
FrankenMocs
tevas originals; idk if they're hiker trash or convey images of tourists they are the greatest shoe
tevas rule
Tevas vs Chacos vs Keens is the great theological debate of the PNW
(I like Tevas)
Gotta be these Diemme boots. In my mind, foul weather boots should be yellow. Also, I haven’t found any other duck boots that fit my poor skinny feet.
pretty much my entire closet, based on what is deemed 'on-trend' these days lol
off trend doesnt mean ugly lol
haha true. personally i dont think any of the stuff i have is 'ugly' and i regularly sell/donate the stuff i dont find appealing anymore so i guess i have nothing that fits this criteria really
Haha i disagree that distressed = ugly though. In fact i think distressing often times makes a garment more beautiful and interesting then it originally would have been
I agree just isn't that your jacket
a more tangible example (warning: old pic) but i got this t-shirt on the first trip i took with my now husband i think 8 years ago now; it's basically a threadbare muscle tank at this point but i'm grabbing it in a house fire
Yah it is like half my wardrobe
imo the one here is good
I have a bunch of stuff that is distressed or repaired and a lot of items i’ve gotten, i purchased specifically because it looked fucked up
yurt is saying the OP picture is your jacket
and thats why its an insult
Oh i was confused lol, no the jacket in the photo for this thread i dont have. It looks a bit similar to some stuff j have tho
I thought they just meant distressed garms in general
no lol
thanks smiles

The chore in the second pic whew laddie
The sleeve repair is :chefskiss:
I bought this beans+ sweater on deeeep clearence years ago. Ive never worn it out of the house but its my favorite over the chair sweater when I work from home
Its real heavy and has a double zip.
he said beans+
I think I bought it because I thought I could wear it like the super nice RRL cardigans but its lacking a certain swag
I did
I stand by it
My old, thrashed White’s packers
They’re not ugly because they’re thrashed (they look better this way), but they are so out of step with the rest of my wardrobe that I don’t really wear em anymore.
This is so good. Shirt is also not ugly, IMO.
I have found if I don’t layer something over the shirt it has a very Crayola vibe
Gorgeous boot
Something I don’t own but always wanted to get is an oversized ugly cardigan
With a grandma couch style pattern
Honestly love the aesthetic and pattern of those old couches
my beenflex, like just love at first site for me, but everytime i wear them my partner always tells me it looks like i'm wearing cornish pasties.
