How to get shaders + DH working on forge? I've heard some have done it

I've heard whisperings of people being able to get DH + shaders working on forge, but I've had no luck. I've tried a variety of different forge versions combined with a variety of different optifine versions, using shaderpacks BSL, complementary reimagined (dh version!), and shrimple, but they do not render the lods at all. I've also tried those shaderpacks with rubidium + oculus, and embeddium + oculus, but that yielded the exact same results. I'm trying to get this to work for 1.18.2. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? I know I've heard people say they've gotten it to work for forge, so I know it's possible somehow. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

alright, update: I have gotten BSL to work, it renders the lods. But, the part of the world that's actually in my "render distance" is waaay too bright, and it's toned to a really weird color. I can mess with the color settings of the shaders but it never really seems right. Any way to fix this?

it's very bright, and almost oversaturated

update 2: I've got it working with complementary shaders, but I sometimes see this weird white-blue "reflection" in grass or leaves. It's hard to see in the picture because I only see it for brief moments, but it's there. Any ideas how to get rid of that?

and here's a video of the weird reflections in action. you can see them in the grass on the hill

from certain angles, it looks like it's not actually a reflection, but rather me seeing straight through the grass and xraying into the ground below it

underwater has some problems too. Maybe the same issue?

ok, yet another update as I continue to try and work through this myself: turning light shafts OFF fixed the UNDERWATER issue, however the grass and leaves still allow me to xray from certain angles I'm going to pause my troubleshooting for now, so here's where I'm at: Grass and leaves xray issue: unsolved. no idea what causes it Water xray issue: turning light shafts off fixes it, but this sucks because I would really like to have light shafts

The only way currently to get proper working shaders are with the Iris beta build On Forge it will most likely only partially work if it works at all as long as the Iris compatibility isn't ported to Oculus

im aware that this is apparently the case, yet I've seen other people talking about getting it to work with forge. plus I am so, so close to doing so myself, I just need help ironing out a few small creases

if you're using steveplays' fork of Complementary Reimagined, x-ray bug was most likely due to the alpha blending added to the shaderpack. if not, you might wanna test it without DH and report to the shaderpack dev if it still happens.

thank you, this is helpful! It does still happen without DH. However, I'm noticing the water xray issue IS exclusive to DH... and it happens with non-DH versions of complementary too do you know if there's a way to fix this? Or if there's a version of DH-compatible complementary that doesn't have this alpha blending issue? I did a with/without DH shaders screenshot comparison, and the results are quite different. Something about DH just makes the shaders look terrible, I know that there is obviously not support for forge 1.18.2 but clearly there is something specific making the shaders do that, and if I can identify that I can try to fix the thing myself, even without official support.

try switching lighting mode in dh config, im assuming old lighting override the shaders lighting as well if not, then it's a bug between DH and shaders (which probably not gonna get fixed until the new iris-dh compat gets ported to oculus, or iris coming to forge/neoforge first)

I believe in both screenshots I have it set to old lighting. I've heard that oculus 1.18.2 isn't going to keep getting updated, so idk if that's something I can rely on. Is there any other method to get shaders working for forge 1.18.2? Or maybe any other things I could try to get shaders and DH to play nice?

unfortunately no, and the new shader support will be exclusive to 1.20+ afaik

yeah, I figured I'm going to still seek ways to try and make this work because I'd like to use DH in a 1.18.2 modpack I've been building and anticipating for years. I appreciate your help, even if we couldn't find any solutions
