Trying to adopt a new style...need help
I'm just getting into fashion so am a little clueless. I like simple and clean looks. I love this shirt that this person has on. Can anyone help identify where I could find a similar shirt with the same sort of collar? I'd like to know what sort of pants these are too. Thank you!

that's a pretty generic Cuban collar short sleeve shirt, and the pants are slim fit chinos
the style that the pants are in especially is a little dated as a heads up
So are the sneakers and no-show/sockless look imo
The shirt would look really nice with like wide leg pleated linen pants I’d say though!
I agree but if you reallly like slim fit pants wear them
Abercrombie for example has a lot of affordable options for short sleeve shirts
https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/eu/mens-tops-short-sleeve-shirts-shirts
Men's Short-Sleeve Shirts | Abercrombie & Fitch
Check out the gotta-have collection of Men's short sleeve shirts from Abercrombie & Fitch
But you can look everywhere really, they are super popular right now
And in general, if you like simple and clean, look into minimalism, there should be a style guide somewhere here.
agreed. this look very minimalist. for the shirt, look up camp collar shirts. for everything else, look at more euro/scandinavian brands, like asket and norse projects.
Careful: People here are reflexively against slim fit or anything that isn't currently "On-TrEnD".
yh im sure slim fit will have it trend again one day
yeah I'm reflexively against it--seeing it triggers my gag reflex!
idk there are some ways to wear slim fit that looks good but all you slim fit warriors seem to want to look like a 2010s trend victim or a sexcore guy
trends are not actually cyclical. the next resurgence of slim fit will not be the same sort of slim fit you're used to.
I think you also need to examine why you like slim fit - is there something inherent to it that you value, or did you just make that up because it was on trend when you got into clothes?
cuban collar shirt + chinos is a classic look imo
and even if you at first say "no, there really is something inherent!" is that thing actually inherently of value? do you really value it more than the other thing? is it even real?
the -fit- of the chino and whatever you choose to do with socks will depend on personal taste; head to abercrombie or j.crew or banana republic and try stuff on. it may help to take pics and make a new thread here when you do.
sorry this is more to the other people in the thread not OP
Why did slim fit go out of style? Because people stopped wearing it.
Why did people stop wearing it? Because it went out of style.
Nobody can actually address why it went out of style.
They are 100% cyclical; nobody can actually provide an answer as to why slim fit went out of style.
the people who wore it got old
People who wore jeans 30 years ago got old too.
they kept wearing it, while being old, wearing it worse and worse as they care less and less
The same thing will happen to baggy styles.
also uncool people adopted it, like finance bros, and wore it poorly
the symbolic logic that form fitting cuts represented shifted
also the values that it indicated have fallen out of favor
No teenager has any idea what a finance bro is
Shifted from what to what?
having been a teenager 2 years ago, lol
You honestly think highschoolers are wearing baggy fits because of finance bros?
sorry what was the question again
well for one slim fit always was rather exclusive or certain body types. also the slim fit styles were often sold as "timeless and classic" fits.
What were those values?
do you think that you have a better idea of what young people think than me, the actual young person?
I am 26.
If you're so young, how do you know why slim fit fell out of style? You don't remember it being in style.
I've been into fashion more or less since I was 16
that was 5 years ago, just as slim fit finally started to decline
What values?
THESE VALUES
the idea of a "permanent style" at all to brutalize a phrase
I'm not acting like we're going to be all wide fits and wide fits forever
truly outlandish that people on a fashion advice discord would advise against wearing off-trend clothing as you start your fashion journey
Yeah, because it's cyclical. It's socialized intended obscelence.
Focusing on trends is a way to get people to replace their wardrobe every five years.
trends typically cycle faster than that
this pseudo-Marxist drivel isn't going to beat capital and it isn't going to make you look cool either
but also what is even the point of this discourse
I hate to have to point to the big sign that says WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY but this is what it's come to
if you're up for debating if when and why slim fit went out of style #fashion-discussion is an option
yeah god the poor guy who asked this question
What would Orson Welles say about slim fit
if you're wondering why people are recommending wider fit stuff when op will possibly encounter or be suggested wider fit stuff as they shop then...
@MorgolKing abercrombie, banana republic, uniqlo all have decent quality camp shirts and chinos for reasonable prices
try stuff on, take pics, post said pics if desired in a new thread
i'm a slim fit warrior in the way that an anime love interest is small top big pants and the apathetic sidekick is big top small pants
I meant people who post incessantly about IT'S NOT DEAD GUYS I SWEAR
people who wear slim fit well are just chilling in the meantime
i'm just fucking with you haha
I don't care about looking cool, that's been my point. Also, I highly doubt you know anything about Marxism.
:xd:
yurt stop arguing with this guy he just admitted he looks like a dweeb

Idc care about childish insults tbh
@HaveanA1day if u posted more outfits people would respect ur opinion more, being very serious here
this is like the third time you've talked shit today, it's time to
:post: :fit:
I have not tried to talk shit at all. Sinbad just insulted me out of nowhere
u are acting pretentious like the users here are sheeple for loosely following trends
So you swung on yurt??? Damn dude
re: op—u can prolly make the type of style in the photo u posted look good with some time and effort. but that time and effort will probably end up leading you in a different direction and then circling back to this type of slim stuff once u have enough steeze
ok I'm putting on my mod voice
@Yurt @sinbad - 4’11 3.1% BAC @HaveanA1day
take this argument into gen chat if you'd like to continue

let's fucking go
Yeah Abercrombie has tons of camp collar shirts
With cool patterns too
Men's Camp Collar Linen-Blend Shirt | Men's Tops | Abercrombie.com
Comfortable short-sleeve button-up shirt in a soft linen-blend fabric, featuring a resort-style camp collar and straight hem. Imported.
@MorgolKing Those pants look like burgundy, slim-fit corduroys. The shirt looks like linen with a Cuban collar. I would advise you to get a long-sleeve shirt and roll it up rather than buying a short-sleeve one.
Do they have long-sleeve?
buying a long sleeve shirt and rolling it up to your biceps is a completely different look than what's in the photo
Also way more fussy
anyways I'm done here
