What break do you think you want?

Half to full? That's what I told the guy who sold me the h freeman slacks that i'm wearing in waywt Also if I take in the waist, should I have the tailor do that before hemming them so they aren't hemmed too short for the taken in waist?

That sounds good. Maybe consider a sewn in cuff for them? Not sure if it’s out of trend but I think the added weight helps the pants drop and that they look nice with the crease/pleat Not sure about that, someone else oughta comment on it 🫡

Eh it's prob a silly marginal thing anyway lol

The tailor should pin the waist then base the hem off of where they are sitting with the pinned waist

Oh perfect thank you I didn't know the cuffs can have that effect thank you!

Does it need to be taken in at like the crotch? So far, aside from the hem I'm thinking it needs to be taken in a lil at the waist to avoid sliding down (as it uses side adjusters instead of a belt).

Waist is too big. Hard to tell much with the waist all cinched up like that

Yeah and I don’t think it makes sense to rebuild the crotch of pants basically ever

Thank you. Well it doesn't really fit when the waist isn't cinched by the side adjusters (in particular the seat). Is it fine if the waist is taken in but I'll still use the side adjusters a bit to tighten it further?

Is there a reason not to just exchange for a smaller size

The only smaller size is 44 which is out of stock and also has a smaller leg opening I mean if I have to return it due to being not worth altering, I will. Tho losing the $25 shipping cost will be painful And the other question is where I'd find heavy enough grey flannels with a high enough rise and full enough cut near my size (MTM is expensive even through Spier). I guess I could resign myself to finding a pair secondhand in the long run

I don’t think the leg opening is gonna matter that much given you’re hemming them by 6 inches, but if they’re out of stock they’re out of stock. IMO these don’t fit well enough to be worth trying to fix, if you were just taking in the waist by a half inch that’s one thing

Oh boy I just remembered they're final sale and the return policy is extra costly with a return shipping charge anyway I could try selling them at cost. They sold out pretty quickly, only one size left I may bring them to my MTM guy when I pick up my jacket next week and get his opinion

Yeah doesn’t hurt to ask, if the cost of returning them is equal to the alterations and the tailor says it’ll work then yeah go for it You pretty much want them to fit and stay up with the side adjusters doing little to nothing
