Flannel trousers fit check
The grey flannels from Berg&Berg has arrived, I'd like to ask your opinion on the fit. I don't think it's very flattering, but I don't know the reason. I have some ideas.
1. I think there might be too much fabric in the front in the lap area, and for that the taper is too aggressive. The leg opening is actually 1 cm smaller than in the size chart.. Although, there's 2 cm extra fabric at both seams in the legs, so I guess I could have the legs let out for a straighter silhouette.
2. I don't think I like the look of the forward pleats, would probably prefer backward pleats. I didn't even know there're multiple types before trying these on, lol.
Even though the front near the pleats is roomy, I'm wondering if the trousers are a bit too tight in the seat. Although, I might just wore them a bit too high in the pictures with the black T-shirt.
(In the pictures with the white T-shirt, I did a terrible job with the cuffs, I tried to do it better in the black T ones.)

They do look pretty tapered. What's the measurement of the leg opening width?
I measured 19 cm, while the size chart said 20
yeah that's too small for flannel trousers imo
I would go with something that's at least 21, maybe 22 cm
Yea, I'm sending these back, but wanted to gather as much info on what's wrong with them as I can.
I've had a hard time finding trousers with large enough leg openings, though. I might try these (https://cavour.co/en/product/8892/mod-3-british-flannel-trouser-high-rise) from Cavour, size chart also says 20 cm, but they state that there's generous allowance, and the legs can be let out up to 5 cm..
What model did you get? I ordered the Antonio model from Berg because it was the least tapered
The other models seemed too tapered for my preferences
This is the Arnold model. And are you satisfied with the Antonio? I wasn't sure about the double pleats. Tbf, the Antonio also looks quite tapered in the pictures
Antonio is also double reverse pleated (I didn't know whether to prefer one type of pleat or the other either)
I'm about to try it on RN lol, arrived yesterday. Your post prompted me to lol
I mean size 46 EU (increases with larger sizes) for the Antonio has a 8.1 in leg opening per their measurements.
First impressions is that it's just a lil more tapered than I'd like. I'm also having trouble telling without them being hemmed
I haven't read the existing thread but they're too tight in the seat/crotch. I think fixing that would clean them up quite a bit. Something also seems off with the front but I'm not positive what exactly
The taper seems fine to me, the legs just aren't laying well and so you aren't getting the clean lines
*the taper seems fine if you like that slimmer look
would this be a result of back rise being too short? how one would go about fixing that? would I need to size up? waist is fine in this size, though
The back rise might be a touch short but mostly I'd have it let out in the crotch and maybe a bit across the pack seam of the pants. I'm not a tailor tho
At this point tho it's probably worthwhile to return and try a different cut or size. You're looking at a hem, undoing some of the taper, and various work in the seat. And I wouldn't do those all at once, you want to work top-down so that's 3+ trips to the tailor
Yah if you don't like the taper, the Antonio model will be best among Berg & Berg's offerings
I'd compare the measurements of the different models
Yea, I'm set on returning them. Thanks for your insights
And I agree, something's not right in the front. Would be great to find out what. I think it's too much fabric with the pleats, but I'm far from an expert
that they didn’t work out
Just telling ya tho, if single pleats are cool, double pleats are double cool
idt that's quite it. Might just be bc the back is jacket up tbh
