Hey all. Bringing this question from a suggestion I saw on reddit: Is there a way to record a scene as it loads in? The build-up reminds me of painting timelapses, and I'd love to capture my bigger projects. Is it possible?

*The reddit comment said they opened a blank scene, loaded the camera tools and then recorded a saved scene as it loaded, but my attempts unfortunately resulted in several glitches. Is there a way to 'officially' do this better?
Oh I actually want to know that too. (Having to stand still to record the time-lapse always kills my neck lol)
It was sheer luck honestly, I don't check patch notes all that often haha
Hello, an amateur open brusher and a professional painter here. Bought Quest 3 specifically (and only) to use OB (the miracle!) Question: with self standing Quest 3, I reach memory limit quickly-- how significantly would memory limit for a sketch change if connected to pc (is mac an option, or is it not really the solution? Do I need to invest in pc for more elaborate work?) Thank you kindly!
Hi, welcome to the server! Really encouraged to hear you bought Q3 specifically for Open Brush 😊 Can we quote that somewhere? 😁
PC memory limit is massively higher, it's kinda hard to hit. However, Quest 3 has a lot of headroom and even though it says you've hit the limit, you can probably go further. The limits are well overdue a rethink. Just to re-jog my memory, will it let you paint past the limit right now on quest?
I didn't go beyond the warning-- I will let you know once i do.
On the other note, I have many questions, but am still exploring existing answers. One thing I can say: It would be extra helpful for us regular non tech human beings if there was a thread explaining basics (or providing links to explanations): file types (and how they function, like understanding vector vs jpg with two dimensional files), programs that are compatible and how to make them so (unity? how to make it able to read all brushes); and similar questions that seem to be understood by majority of people here. Sadly, I don't understand half of what people are discussing (yet.) But I am in love!
Went through all of that, still not a wiz 😂 . I guess a pc is order, and some hard work and reading. Thank you for responding, it is greatly appreciated. ( I will report some glitches i encountered in regular and experimental mode on bugs-and-issues thread.)
I apologize for the flood of q, but can someone please give me pc requirements/recommendations before i go broke for nothing :D. Thank you!
Hey all.. not sure where to ask this…
Is there anyway to set up custom environment colors and have it as a preset like “Pistachio”? Is there a file I can add to or edit?
Once I set up a scene with lights and colors sometimes it’s nice to continue painting in just the clean black scene, but would be killer to be able to get back to my custom one.
This isn't a question. I just wanted to let you guys know that you can spin the mirror tool and it will maintain momentum and still be usable resulting in interesting abstract patterns. I learned this by trying to throw it instead of turning it off.
The standard PC VR specs are fine: https://www.meta.com/help/quest/articles/headsets-and-accessories/oculus-link/requirements-quest-link/
Yeah! I actually reduced the threshold at which it starts spinning in the last release. You can actually spin it fairly slowly now.
No - but that's definitely worth adding to #feature-suggestions
Hello, I'm not sure where I should post this, so I will post it here. In version 2.2 there was a passthrough environment, in version 2.4 it does not appear to exist (PCVR). Was that intentionally removed? Will it or something like it be returning?
Yep, we intentionally removed it because it doesn't work with a lot of our transparent-ish brushes and their blending on PC. it's now dymanically enabled if you're using a quest natively
the fact they work properly with quest passthrough appears to be a bug with quest's implementation, but we aren't going to complain 😄
I figured something like that.
