Trying to find new jeans
I noticed today that my jeans are skinny jeans. I want to get some not skinny jeans but I'm having a hard time deciding.
I understand that fuller cuts are more in style. That said, most of my clothes are slim fit because in 2020 I built my wardrobe on 10 year old MFA posts. I'm a bit worried if they're to wide, I won't have anything to wear with them.
I went to the store and tried in Levi's 511 (with the belt) and 505 (without the belt. I think the 505 fits better, but I'm not really sure I like more. The 511 doesn't strike me as particularly skinny or that different to the 505, but that might just be because I'm so used to overly skinny jeans.
I was also looking at Unbranded jeans, since they aren't that much more expensive than Levi's in Canada at the moment. Would the UB301 be the right fit?
Anyways all that to say, if anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it!

505 look better to me but both pairs look pretty tight in the top block
If you size up in the waist are they too big?
No reason to get raw denim unless you're 1) really into raw denim as a hobby or 2) specifically interested in high contrast fades
Yeah, if I size up the waist they're going to fall down without a belt.
Is there a cut that would fit me better? Or should I size up and tailor the waist?
Maybe I'm missing something but what's wrong with wearing a belt?
Eh, I get the point of not wanting to need to wear a belt
I suppose nothing, I just assumed if I needed a belt it means it doesn't fit.
that is what it means, try 550s but the 505s are miles better than the 511s
could also try like wrangler cowboy cuts as an alternative see what it looks like
Maybe look for a straight fit that's slightly fuller cut in the thigh? I really like the Polo Jeans Woodrow and Brixton cuts which can be found on ebay for $30ish. Not sure if that's too full cut for your tastes though
I'm going to disagree with that and say there's a reason pants have belt loops but I get your point.
The 505 look better to me. I own Wrangler Cowboy Cut slim and straight. The rise is higher than Levi's which I like, but keep that in mind
The Wrangler slims are similar to a 511, the straight are close to a 505/501
These are Woodrow cut from Polo jeans. Wide enough to be a full straight cut without being extremely loose or anything
A bit higher rise than the 505s too
Really? For a 36 the 505s range from an 11.5-12 inch rise, if Polo jeans are higher I'll take a look at them
If you want a looser leg and more space at the top you can try Levi's 550 and 559 in most stores.
But if the price for Unbranded are close, I'd go for the Unbranded. Levi's quality has gone to utter shit lately, after multiple bad experiences I will never buy another pair of modern Levi's again unless they change dramatically
13" rise on my size 34!
That's awesome! My Wranglers are 13, I've got a pair of Lee jeans from the 80s that are 13.5, had a custom pair made with a 14 inch rise. I've got a long torso and need the higher rise.
Shit forgot about my Sugarcanes, they're right under 14
Yeah take a look at em, brand is defunct now but were all over malls in the 90s. Definitely my fav cheap jeans
Love my polo jeans

No, not polo Ralph Lauren
Oh I see the all caps now lol
The brand is “Polo Jeans” which is kinda confusing lol
Hmmmm
I'll have to keep an eye out for my size on Ebay
Doesn't seem like there are any I can see
That pair might be fine? Idk my pair from PRL has a super low rise and I’m getting rid of them
Oh wtf
Ebay wizardry
Cheers, I am just happy to bless people with big pant
the only thing with pants like thse is you probably want to go by the measurement of the waistband more than the listed size if they are from the 90s
Thanks for the help everyone!
511's still look pretty slim. Based on the pics I prefer the 505's, but they're still kinda slim too. Seem to be tight in the thighs.
And of course everyone else's comments populate after my post and have already addressed it all.
I'll get the lights.
