Advice Wiping/restting pc/changing boot drive
Heyyy so I got a new boot drive and i want to install windows on that, i also want to wipe my current pc and stuff.
Would using recovery and wiping my pc work and then once its done and everything since it reinstalls windows itself i could unplug the old boot drive (i dont wanna use it) and then plug in my boot usb and install windows to the new drive? would that work okay?

you are sure you dont have to copy the drive as is and move it to the new boot drive? you are effectively doing a clean install on the new boot drive and not needing the new data
im not sure what you mean
sorry let me phrase. you can install windows on the new boot drive already with just the boot usb now.
you can decide to wipe the old 128gb boot drive later
okay im gonna reconize that option but i wanna see about this one so like I reset pc, turn off pc, unplug old drive, turn back on with boot usb and download windows onto my already installed new drive? would that work right? i just think that would be easier for me personally i just want to check that it wouldnt be bad to do
i got 128gb boot ssd and a 1tb ssd, im wiping both with recovery reset thingy, then gonna unplug 128gb and use the 500gb m.2 ssd i have installed as the new boot drive
im confusing myself so im gonna reword it
wipe 128gb boot ssd & 1tbssd via recovery windows
unplug 128gb ssd
use usb windows boot to install windows on my 500gb m.2 ssd via bios
is that okay to do?
its easier for me to do that
i apoligize for always making things complicated or annoying.
Is the old SSD an M.2 or 2.5" one
And you have another 1TB SSD in the system? Is that M.2 or 2.5"?
Do this instead
1. Turn off pc
2. Disconnect all drives from the PC
3. Install just the new SSD
4. Plug in USB installer for Windows
5. Turn on the PC and install Windows on the new SSD
6. Once you finish the install and boot into windows, turn off the PC and unplug the Windows installer USB
Now this part depends on what your old drives were. If they're M.2 then your motherboard should have multiple M.2 slots where you can put the drives into.
If they're 2.5" ones then you need to have a power cable from your power supply (they should be labeled "SATA") and a data cable. Consult your motherboard manual on where the SATA data ports are on it.
Once you figure that out, turn on the PC and you should automatically boot into your new Windows install. When you open File Explorer, you'll see your two old drives there and you can wipe them from there
old ssd is 2.5
2.5
gotcha
delete both partitions
select the drive again and click new
got it! thanks yall
