Clothing Care Guide - Topic of the day 1/3/24
so you've gone down the rabbit hole, you've bought some sick new jawns, and- you spilled spaghetti all over it! What are some of your goto stain removal solutions?

Grease --> Dr. Bronner's soap. Yellow sweat stains --> oxiclean.
Dawn dish soap is great for most oil stains. For really nasty stuff I've made a paste from dawn, oxiclean, and a bit of water
Vanish stuff in the UK. Sometimes soaking in a solution overnight works the best for tuff stains.
Dish soap and prayer. I had a few accidents during my mustard renaissance and tie dyed all my stained white shirts to escape the hassle.
I keep a tide pen with me in case of emergencies
Solution is to stop spilling me in the first place 😤
usually dish soap or tide detergent followed by cold water. For stubborn stains that aren't sweat-based, Oxiclean Triple Action cleaner has been a godsend
Hydrogen Peroxide is a godsend for blood stains
Other than that just Dawn Dawn and more Dawn
I've used hydrogen peroxide many times but can never get the stain fully out, is there something I'm missing
How quickly do you do it?
ASAP but realistically sometimes up to a week later
Shout also works super well
Maybe your hydrogen peroxide is expired or something
Hmmm how long does that take to happen?
On bloodstains?
On ~anything really
Could also look up ask folks that get periods if they have any tips
great idea
I used dawn on a pair of pants a few days ago to get rid of a grease stain and it might have lightened the color of pants in the spot. I’m waiting for them to air dry after the washing machine to fully see.
Mantra I have to remind myself every time is "don't rub it in, it'll only get worse D:"
Stains add character sometimes. @Digs ‘s chinos are an example I think of a lot
Vanish is quite strong though. I’ve accidentally bleached a pair of pants trying to remove an oil stain.
To their credit the pants were mud dyed. I guess that counts as dirt? 🤷🏻♂️
Not if you bought them from Visvim, probably. 😁
Artisanal dirt
Thank God it wasnt Vis. Still sucked though and I’m trying to figure out what to re-dye it with. Might be a fun project
On a similar note, anyone ever mess around with natural dyes?
I was unaware until recently that Americans in particular use tumble dryers as standard? Its terrible for your clothes
Yup! Been air drying for forever now but it's usually the standard.
On the topic of clothing care, any recs on fixing this dye bleeding? Bought a jacket from story mfg and hand washed like the tag said to do. Weirdly only the pocket area had this issue.
suppose you get sick or are exhausted for a week and you have your nice stuff in a big pile and it's all wrinkled to shit, what do y'all tend to do?
Ask my wife very nicely
i don’t think there’s much you can do at this point? but it looks cool fwiw, like it was done by hand
I hate it!
If it was all over I'd be okay with it but it just being focused at the pockets ruins it for me
going to try syntrapol wash with color catchers but not too hopeful itll work
iron
Some clothes will sort themselves out if you hang them up
Fair nuff, appreciate it
