Do you mean like a traditional navy blazer with metal buttons and flap pockets or just a sport jacket? There are a number of tailoring options beyond the brands in that guide Besnard looks really nice and is just under a $1000 Berg & Berg is a bit over a $1000 but is running a sale starting Jan 3 Ring Jacket can be absolutely had under $1000 though they have a number of different lines with various levels of hand workmanship. Check drop93, beams and beams outlet (offers international shipping, much of the Beams F and brilla per il gusto lines are made by ring jacket) and the ring jacket outlet site Natalino is far under $1000 Rochester Tailoring Company through which I'm getting a MTM sport jacket is under $1000 for most fabrics through the store I went to. There may be some stores selling RTW from them. Anglo Italian is $200 over $1000 tho could go under on sale P.Johnson offers a RTW jacket online for under $1000 though maybe they have more selection in store Jack Victor and Coppley are under $1000 (both can be found at smaller menswear stores and Jack Victor can also be found at large department stores) O'Connell's offerings made by a number of different makers (incl. some already mentioned) are under $1000 As is J. Press A big part of who you choose depends on the tailoring style you like which you haven't specified The anthology is $80 over $1000

You can get a great blazer on ebay for like $50 if you know the measurements of a jacket that fits you well and aren't in a rush

True. given you're searching for RTW, i'm assuming you aren't too hard to size which makes that easier

I would be interested in an Italian tailoring style, especially northern Italy. I would really only want one that is fully-canvassed.

Prl doeskin blazer?

Benji12mo ago
I don't think full canvassing is as important as you think in itself. when I ordered my MTM jacket, the cost difference between full and half canvassing was only $40 Yah I love my PRL doeskin blazer tho I switched the buttons

Cost isn't a good indicator here

Yah but the maker is very reputable (Rochester tailoring company, formerly hickey freeman). Doesn't it indicate you can have a well made jacket that isn't fully canvassed? Like whether it's fully canvassed is just one aspect of how good a jacket is

More or less yeah but at the $1k price point I'd want decent full canvassing personally

Yah and i did spring for the full canvassing myself when ordering the jacket lol

So why wouldn't I spend the extra $40 for the fullcanvassing? It's not sufficient for a good jacket, but is essential. I have a JPress blazer that I bought over a decade ago. It's not bad, but I am looking for a different style. I can't find them online

You would. I was being nit-picky. full-canvassing I think is generally overblown as a quality marker for most people, but if you're going to spend the full ~$1k I would personally want good canvassing in the jacket. As a counter example, I wouldn't really care if I was hunting for a sportcoat on eBay for cheap

Where can I find this company and how would I order from them? Some additional styling notes: I am looking for something with a lower buttoning point. I'd very interested in flannel/cashmere blends to wear in winter and fall. As for colours, I'm exclusively looking for navy or charcoal.

What area do you live in? I think epaulet and O'Connells offer them where you can order online The store I got measured for my jacket is LS Men's Clothes

I'm not sure about the buttoning point, maybe someone here knows. I know RTC can make stuff in the hickey freeman blocks (boxier) and Southwick blocks (soft shoulders, BB sack suit style, 3 roll 2, no darts). If you want to take a look at what a Southwick blazer looks like, look at GSH's post on the MFA substack where he has a pic of him wearing one actually

I have a JPress blazer, which is in the Southwick style you describe.
