WAYWT: On Posting - Topic of the day 12/9/23
If you do post, has that helped or hindered your stylistic journey? If you don’t post, why not? Do you use another platform instead?

Definitely helped. Like if your goal is “improvement” i dont think you can do that without feedback from others
You know, I actually think this is an interesting question. I think seeing other people post has undeniably helped my "style journey" and probably everyone else's, but specifically for myself posting, I think it's given me more opportunity to challenge myself. I probably haven't worn the same outfit twice in the last 3 months because I'm thinking like "well I can't post the same outfit twice!" so when i'm picking my outfit for the next day, i'm thinking how i can do something different with what i have now - really putting my wardrobe to its limits in terms of what goes with what. so i think in that aspect, it's helped me
I have been forged in the fires of discord
Honestly though like 5 years ago i was in the streetwear discord and everyone was brutal to eachother which was awful and im glad mfa isnt like that, but it definitely made me try harder
I'm pretty comfortable and happy with the stuff I have and my current, um, choices (hesitant to call it 'style' here lol) and I definitely wouldn't say it's hindered in any way. But it's definitely interesting to see what others are wearing and the comments people make about stuff. Gaining new perspective is always helpful in one way or another as long as you keep an open mind. As far as posting goes, I try to contribute where I can, knowing I'm not a person who's at the forefront of fashion, but just someone who likes clothing and appreciates quality and little details in things
I post occasionally when I feel like sharing, and I like to think of it as sharing something I like even if its not the most popular or well done. Generally I notice that the more I post on social media (not necessarily here), the more I can find myself seeking more and more validation through feedback, which is really not something I want to be doing. Especially since style is just a passing interest for me which I dont want to get hung up on in any way. So personally, I prefer to abstain as a default unless the mood strikes me in a positive way
I found myself purchasing stuff to get likes from the discord gang. Whoops
Have not posted yet. Want to though
I think one time I posted fit every day for a month and a half
Posting helps me improve because I’m speedrunning bricks
I don't post because I don't have fits that I like enough to share with others. Working on my closet and self-esteem though
Posting has absolutely helped me. Feedback is good but it's not even that, really, it's just the practice of forcing myself to come up with outfits and being more intentional and thoughtful made me discover what I do and don't like
posting reminds me to stay humble. I think I got some fire, nope
stay on the grindset
Outfits aside I've also gotten a lot better at the posing and composition of my fit pics. Like this old fit pic is pretty similar to my most recent waywt https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1116800072093532191/1182789357279658004 but is so much more meh looking
in all seriousness you need feedback to improve. It also can help a lot to get others opinions, and as said it helps drive me to wear new outfits and experiment in general
I don’t post that much but when I do it’s helpful even without feedback from others. Just being able to look at your fit over a longer period of time (not just quickly in a mirror makes you realize “oh that doesn’t work like I thought it did”.
Posting forces me to think about how I'm dressing, and gives me feedback from you all. Both of those things help me dress better. But, posting takes energy and courage, and it was important for me to realize that I don't have to do it every day. Sometimes throwing on jeans and a tee is just fine.
I to be able to
I end up not posting that much bc my work fits are boring-basic-bastard office attire, and by the time I’m home/changing it’s pitch black outside :/
Echoing others though posting acts as a great archive to see how my style is devleoping over time, and also being more intentional about creating new fits w my wardrobe and not repeating comfortable pairings
Posting fits is my motivation to get out of PJs
i've been posting in styling a bit but i want to make it more habitual/explicit for the forementioned reason of not wanting to repeat fits to other ppl
