Postgres database legacy migration stuck in "migrating data"

for 45 minutes now. The db is not that big, pg_dump and import would take a couple of minutes. Also noticed that the migration is adding to my usage. I am not sure I can interrupt the process without losing data - but then i don't also want to hit any overage charges.

you can cancel it, there's extremely low risk of data loss

what should the process be? Do I cancel, stop and remove the new pg db and migration - and repeat?

correct but, it sounds like you're familiar with pg_dump and pg_restore? if the auto migrations fails again you could spin up a new database yourself and do the dump and restore manually?

how do I cancel the migration though. I clicked on the legacy service - but there is no option to cancel. do I just hit restart database?

I've actually not ran this process myself, can you show me some screenshots of what you're looking at?

you are confident - I wont mess up my db? 😨

as long as you don't delete the wrong database you'd also want to delete the migration service

ok - completed manually now. I had a backup so wasnt worried about losing data. Thanks for the guidance. I noticed now that the new PG has a volume/disk attached. The legacy did not. Does this mean I will get charged for disk usage as well as memory usage? Previously only memory was being used/charged for.

thats correct $0.25 / GB

I was hovering at around 700Mb in the legacy - still about the same in the new one.

its not a big amount - but it means i will be paying slightly more going forward. Its not much - but still hurts a bit! thanks!

youd said both databases used around 700mb of memory, so in terms of that you will be paying the same whats your disk usage at?
