Easier access to files on Quest
Hello, im using open brush on 2 headsets, quest 2. Ive got 35 students to create in them and saved each work. I now want to export and copy all the data so I can use the 3d exports

SideQuest?
That bypasses the normal permissions as it uses adb
ive borrowed the headsets
?
ahh is that just an install, ive borrowed the headsets from another dept
SideQuest is a pretty essential tool all-round
so I have 2 headsets both running open brush, i had 35 students using them this weekend

(poorly named - they have a PC app and a native Quest app - you want the PC app)
oh thats not traightfoward at al, dammit
erm is there another way, im using someone elses headsets and accounts
thought id be able to just transfer the open brush files off
sidequest is just a swiss army knife. it's useful for tons of stuff
it's worth the effort in general
yeah but it need acount login details to enabel it
not my headsets
i don't think it does
i just watched the tutorial
you haven to enable devloper mode
ah.
another thing where i just assume everyone does that!
yeah, these are not my headsets
yeah - but surely whoever does own them would benefit as well?
you're doing them a favour "setting them up properly"!
thats dosnt solve this issue now and i cant ask them becuase thery are not around
ok. let me think
thank you
so - you're using a different account to the headset owner?
that does mess with file access. i vaguely remember hitting this myself a while back
hmmmm. i wonder if the google drive sync would work
it's going to be fiddly that way...
ah. it's only 2 headsets. in which case - give that a go
I've had similar issues.
I've got very strange gpu over here...
if you sync to google drive, open each sketch and resave it - they should hopefully back up to the google drive account you chose
try one or two first before doing all 35
ahhh, ok within the app itself
yep
(you could try the sketchfab export as well - but it's not 100% faithful to our brushes)
there's some other sites you could upload too
ahhhhh!
(this is about exporting directly from the headset)
what the best way to concerv
i hate this stuff, why cant thing be easy! haha
what do you plan to do after export?
there's some good options for viewing I think
i want to export them and grab the export , then show them in AR at a exhibition, im just leaving now ive given up for today
im around later when i get home though, assuming you are free of course
thanks for your time today Andy, did you see the video link of the session i had Sat though

that's awesome!
Thanks, though you would like that, its a good use of Open Brush and getting kids into VR
and also thinking about fashion which was the main purpose
so the idea was to get the files off and then use an AR app to show these
btw, dont suppose you know where the model for the dress dummy thats used in the environment file location?
OMG!
thank you
that was bloody easy!
haha, saves me trying to match them
benefits of being open source - everything is available!
great, just watching your brush edit video
yeah. i really need to revive that
it would be a cool feature
i like those blue smoke dots you made
"slug brush" 🙂
you should see what @AncientWorlds did with that - he made hundreds of custom brushes
is that a feature that i could use?
(nearly) all viable branches are listed here
can you run them side by side, or just one at a time
side by side
GREAT!
they al appear in "unknown sources" on the quest
youve done great things with this, im so glad its alive still, its a killer VR app
do be wary - this is all bleeding edge stuff and we make no guarantees 🙂
no worries, ill keep the stable version
btw i pluged in my cable at home and i got the files stright away
in my own quest
yeah - the issue is with multiple accounts i think
yeah, but aprriate the help and the chat
and i really want to help promote open brush too
That is very much appreciated.
You can make modified brushes with the brush editing build.
At the moment that isn't integrated, so to display them you need to use the same build. The default version won't read from the file location where they're stored, It works (with some small glitches), its fast, but there's a lot that needs to be done to make it more usable and/or update it to more current materials workflows
