Probably gonna look something like this
maybe?
I'll still like some things the same, but i'll modify how it's done to suit my age. Would prefer to up the quality but simplify.
Bodywise I intend to not let myself go but with age fat distributions change. So very fitted fits won't be ideal, rather flowing silhouettes better.
i see myself going the same route. i'll probably forgo the 6 inch inseam shorts for linen pants but the tops i currently wear i feel like id probably continue wearing.
i think my biggest struggle that feeling of standing out wearing those kinda outfits when you're older, but given the new generation and how trends cycle so quickly, i still feel like in our 40s, 50s, it wont be as different as it is for us today, compared to our parents experiences
Im probably gonna get increasingly focused on like “perfect” garments
Which is already something im starting to lean towards
Probably with a tinge of “fashion” still attached where more classic clothes dont fill rhe gaps
No idea don't care
Hoping I'll still be into fashion in 20 years
Probably be doing some stupid trendy shit 20 years in the future
I really wanna dress the same as I do now. I’m sure some things will change, maybe as my career progresses, but I think I will always be “Ethan”
Kinda writing a blog post on that before EOY
it feels so engrained that i dont imagine myself ever not being into fashion anymore.
a mid-life crisis rick phase would be interesting though
does that section of more vintage/classic menswear still go through microtrends or of the sort? feels for the most part that at any age itll be 👌
Menswear changes in a millimeter of a detail while womenswear changes in big ways, so microtrends probably yes
No menswear changes plenty lmao
Just slower than other shit
My bad I meant suit lapels
I mean I’m the last 2 years we saw what Simon crompton calls the “menswear merger”
All the merch, rugged ivy, and hype (ALD, etc) rolled into classic menswear
So maybe designs slightly change (wider pants) but the styling of the menswear look has changed
Just see how drakes has changed
I meant that classic suit details change too just by small degrees, so even classic is in flux
The look of the tweee jacket, abstract tie, and drakes tapestry print pocket square is out
We’re in peak 501s, merch cap, vintage sweatshirt
In that way, I see myself “canonizing” more looks, expanding my expresion of menswear rather than it being radical
Safincore is probably the biggest change I’ve had but people who know me best weren’t surprised by it
didn't really pay attention but now that you mention it, did notice the menswear merger! thats interesting to hear.
im kind of treating this as a time capsule to see if it ends up how i imagine by that time. i believe i found my style and im comfortable with where im at. like i used to think buying the same color of pants in slim, straight, and wide, was needed along with that same cut in different fabrics for the seasons. now i just have one pair of each color and it all just fits well.
I hope that I am buying things now that will last for 20 years and I will still enjoy wearing. That feels quite possible with MFA's help. Probably easiest for leather footwear.
And in 20 years, we should have gone through another cycle of skinny fits, and big pants will be back. FOR GOOD this time, 100% guaranteed.
with my lifestyle i dont anticipate much change in terms of overall body composition, so i'll probably be wearing the same basic stuff that i have been wearing for the last 10 or 15 years, maybe just a little higher end and not as many items in my closet
This image is a current ideal, but I definitely feel like I've not reached certain benchmarks of life that will change my perspective on the matter and necessity of clothing.
