Shoe Polish Guide
Is there a good video / guide for understanding the basics of shoe polish (i.e. matching browns, proper application, etc) that people recommend? I have some loafers and oxfords that are a bit scuffed up from regular wear that I’d love to freshen up, but have never actually polished a pair before.

Depends a bit on exactly what you want. My general advice is to stick to a single brand for your creams and polishes as sometimes cross-brands don't play nicely together.
Only use wax polish on areas of the shoe that don't flex. Mainly the toe and the heel.
Other than that it's pretty easy and there's a million techniques and even competitions. None of them are really "wrong" so do whatever gets the results you want and that you enjoy.
I've never seen someone ruin shoes by polishing them
