bed mesh: waved bed

Hi, I have assembled my new vcore 3.1 400. But I'm running into some issue with the bed. I admit I didn't follow the guide carefully and forgot to check the bed without heater and without the magnetic pei. I started with a tilted bed, and I was able to get it lke the second screenshot. I lowered/heightened the front beams. In order to try and fix the wave patern on the y axis I also loostened the X and Y rails except the middle 2 screws and started tightening from the middle to the outsides. Screenshots are with bed is at 80°C. Is this somehow acceptable? Any tips to improve? Any explanation why the front seems to be to high? I thought z-tilt made sure the fronts are aways at 0.

Is it enclosed?

That is really the wrong way if you ask me, I think its asking for trouble. In my opinion the proper way is to loosen both sides and start from one side while moving the gantry one hole at a time. Fasten it, move, fasten, etc. If you start in the middle fastened, you risk skewing the rail around that center point and once fastened like that will cause binding. Your steppers will pull trough unless its really bad, but the rail and carriage will wear significantly faster. I would fix that first before proceeding

@nebulator : it's not enclosed yet. When I loosened the rails, I used the guide blocks used for the rail installation. I forgot to mention that. But I can try your logical method.

yeh thats just to get them aligned as a starting point the tolerances on those carriages are micrometers

Initially I installed the rails theightening the outer 2 screws with the alignment blocks installed. So I thought that that was my mistake and could cause the wave pattern. But after loosening and retightening the pattern didn't change a lot

yeh theres no good way of doing this tbh. Steel and aluminium have expand differently so its always a compromise. Its either good printing PLA with an open enclosure or its good with ABS/ASA in a heated enclosure. Theres no way getting both unfortunately Once you get this reasonably good, there is a software mod to correct for thermal expansion on the fly. Its complex to get it up and running but it works quite well

I don't use pla alot as I have petg under control on my two trees sapphire plus. I have the enclosed vc 3.1 frame. So the final goal is to enclose it. Do you have the name of the software mod?
