Collared shirts with shorter collars

I'm looking for some collared shirts (button downs, preferably) with shorter collars. I have a shorter neck, meaning that a lot of button downs will have collars that go all the way up to my chin, not a great look. Are there any button downs out there that have shorter collars?

doesn't H&M or j.crew have pretty short collars?

Depending on your budget, you may want to consider MTM. Collar height is a pretty common adjustment in that space.

Is there a shirt you like (or don’t like) you can give us a collar measurement for? I have collared shirts from Uniqlo, Charles Tywrhitt, J Crew, Lands End that all have collars that seem short to me (compared to some of my Brooks Brothers shirts). Short collars seem more common in my experience

I think there might be a difference between collar point length and the height of the collar stand. I haven't noticed a big difference between long and short points and how far the whole situation comes up my neck (i have a short neck too)

Good point, I hate tall collars but like long points

I think some mtm does allow for adjustments to be made to how high the collar goes up your neck, at least at the back, and some collar stands are made in such a way that the buttoning point sits a little lower on the front of your neck. I have a couple of sewing books that go into some detail about it (david page coffin's books) but it's not really useful info for shopping, just good to know that there are different collar patterns out there so it's worth trying a bunch to see what you like

Yeah, I'm talking more how high up it goes on the neck vs. point length. Any brands you like? Or have you done mostly MTM I'll take a look at J.Crew! It's been a while since I shopped there, it sounds like they've gotten better quality-wise?

I am thinking about doing mtm with j press at some point, when I discussed it with the guy at the store it sounded like they can adjust the back collar height. I'm in the middle of trying proper cloth atm but I don't think they can make that adjustment - I did ask. Most of what I own rn is off the rack or something I made myself from an unaltered pattern. I have shirts from prl, drakes, and mercer n sons. Mostly prl bc it's the easiest to find secondhand for cheap. I just live with them being pretty close to my chin! If you like to wear tailoring it's probably worth noting that changing the back collar height can mess with the way it looks under a jacket without the same back collar height adjustment, I think? Very nitpicky obv but I think caring about back collar height is probably nitpicky to start with haha
